WR1, UK300, P1, RB5, etc etc
All these limited specs are a gimic, a good gimic but still a gimic and a money spinner for IM!
They're all good cars, especially the RB5 as I had a go in one.
But at the end of the day, the masses still stick to the the main line stuff, WRX, STIs, etc etc.
When I first got my MY01 WRX I envied those people who had the extra cash for a a UK 300 or P1, but now I have a STI8 Prodrive who cares. I'm happy that I don't have the same envy now as I used to have.
Its about time that IM realise that its the masses that give them the money so I think they need to put the efforts into improving the mainline range and offering extras and variations (a bit like rallyart - oops) rather than investing lots into limited editions that at the end of the day they don't really make any money on (according to my dealer).
The STI8 is a great car, PPP improves it further, but it still needs some improvement to make it the ultimate car!
But for those lucky few, who have a WR1 then I have the utmost admiration and respect.
Roll on!

They are all great cars, but since spending on my STI8 PPP, I don't have the same level of envy as those with Limited Eds

in answer to original question ( i think anyway imo )
Of course limited editions are a gimmick and a cash in, the whole point of the UK300 was to shift the bugeyes.
