9L = 2 gallons = say 40 miles, 15 is very conservative
Don't know about a new shape, but you can run a classic down to the middle bar of the "E" on the fuel gauge.......

I got 27 miles after the light came on once trying to limp to the Shell station. Was crapping myself, waiting for the dreaded 'judder' of fuel starvation. Certainly wouldn't push it any further than that!
