My my99 blew and I looked into rebuilds and then decided on a new shortblock from Subaru themselves as cost wasn't too bad (surprisingly) and at least you got a 2 year warranty as opposed to a botched re-build job

Obvioulsy depends on who does the re-build, but the most important thing regardless is to find the exact cause of the blown engine as these have a nasty habit of happening again.

Make sure it's fuelling correctly and oil pressure etc is ok.

Many people just stick in a new block presuming that the fault was with the block or due to mileage when in fact the problem still exists and will carry on blowing engines time after time

Good luck

Cheers

I am takeing my car to GDA Imports, They said they will take the engine apart to see what the problem was and find out what the cause was, then advise me from there. Ill prob end up getting a new bottom end now rather than a rebuild.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure about the 2.5 lump, How much more are they??
