MPG.. does it get any better
#1
Had MY02 for 12 days now and run the tank to empty. I worked out
its doing 18mpg . Admittingly I have had a 1 ton weight on my right foot and the A/c has been on cause the car was standing for a few weeks. I can put up with 22-24mpg but this has just scared me.

I'd say 'normal' for an MY02 WRX should be 25-29 MPG assuming 'some' sane driving.
If you only use the car for kicks or track it, 8 MPG sounds fine
Jeremy.

getting 22 mpg out of my MY01 WRX, and thats a mix of fast roads (90-120) Kms
and plenty of town driving 0-20mph
just change air filter to a Green Cotton Power Panle Filter and my MPG has gone upt0 25MPG ???? don't know if the cold has had anything to do with this and a little less on the right boot?
Fingers crossed its the filter!!
Worst was the first couple of weeks 10MPG and best was a 270 mile trip on ONE TANK

I can get upto 29mpg if I'm carefull and doing mainly motorway miles.(WRX MY03 PPP)
With 200bhp plus and 0-60 in sub 6 seconds you can't expect diesel mondeo mpg.
Smile and enjoy - it's worth it

lol... that 31mpg was the result of running 332.5 miles! It wasn't actually on the empty line (filled 48.9 litres), so I could have run a little further. I wonder what the record is?

I have just worked all this out.
If say your speedo is 10% over reading if you are doing say 300 miles on your trip counter on say 10 gallons i.e. 30mpg you only actually covering 270 "real" miles so you are actually getting 27mpg.
