Had MY02 for 12 days now and run the tank to empty. I worked out
its doing 18mpg . Admittingly I have had a 1 ton weight on my right foot and the A/c has been on cause the car was standing for a few weeks. I can put up with 22-24mpg but this has just scared me.

JohnnyR6 29 January 2004 09:51 AM

In a word.. No, I'm lucky if i see 200 miles from a full tank (my 95 STI)

scooby_si 29 January 2004 10:00 AM

pah you dont know how lucky you are ;)
Si

greasemonkey 29 January 2004 02:27 PM

18mpg? Lucky s*d!

markbluemica 29 January 2004 02:31 PM

i wish:D

STi Paul 29 January 2004 03:03 PM

You should get much more than that, nearly 8mpg to look forward to on the track.

Paul

vindaloo 29 January 2004 04:35 PM

I'd say 'normal' for an MY02 WRX should be 25-29 MPG assuming 'some' sane driving.
If you only use the car for kicks or track it, 8 MPG sounds fine :D:D

Jeremy.

RRH 29 January 2004 04:36 PM

approx 2 to 3 mpg in the aircon alone. MY01, and MY03.

kend 29 January 2004 05:26 PM

MY01 20-22 around town, bit less c aircon on.

Proceeding briskly: 10-12mpg

Scooby300 29 January 2004 08:45 PM

getting 22 mpg out of my MY01 WRX, and thats a mix of fast roads (90-120) Kms ;)

and plenty of town driving 0-20mph

just change air filter to a Green Cotton Power Panle Filter and my MPG has gone upt0 25MPG ???? don't know if the cold has had anything to do with this and a little less on the right boot?

Fingers crossed its the filter!!

Worst was the first couple of weeks 10MPG and best was a 270 mile trip on ONE TANK

barneyrubble 29 January 2004 09:04 PM

I can get upto 29mpg if I'm carefull and doing mainly motorway miles.(WRX MY03 PPP)

With 200bhp plus and 0-60 in sub 6 seconds you can't expect diesel mondeo mpg.

Smile and enjoy - it's worth it

chrisp 29 January 2004 09:09 PM

I can get 23mpg if I am really really careful

Fatman 29 January 2004 09:17 PM

I managed 31mpg out of my modded MY00 UK Turbo. However, it requires driving like a granny! 'Normal' driving averages 22mpg.

scooby-tc 29 January 2004 10:49 PM

I got 335 miles out of a tank in my MY98 STi Type R is that a record? i dont know what that equates to in mpg but its lots :D

Fatman 29 January 2004 10:57 PM

lol... that 31mpg was the result of running 332.5 miles! It wasn't actually on the empty line (filled 48.9 litres), so I could have run a little further. I wonder what the record is?

SUBTYPER 29 January 2004 11:20 PM

I went from Newcastle to Nairn in Inverness on one tank in a MY98 Sti Type R no idea what the mpg was or the mileage. but also only took one tank to come back aswell.

Fatman 29 January 2004 11:29 PM

According to the AA route planner, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to Nairn is 277 miles.

SUBTYPER 29 January 2004 11:33 PM

Cool thanks Fatman I am still chuffed lol. Mine will be going alot better after I get the GEms fitted and the fueling sorted properly.

blue-scoop 30 January 2004 05:14 AM

310BHP and 21mpg:rolleyes: Thats better than a Evo...17mpg

harrymonk 30 January 2004 05:48 AM

Get about 200 from a full tank midlife crisses driving myo2 sti ppp!

chrisp 30 January 2004 06:48 PM

I have just worked all this out.

If say your speedo is 10% over reading if you are doing say 300 miles on your trip counter on say 10 gallons i.e. 30mpg you only actually covering 270 "real" miles so you are actually getting 27mpg. ;)

Phil Herrup 30 January 2004 07:51 PM

WRX 03 decat averages 26 ish, worst 35mpg. best 16 mpg :D :D

jasey 30 January 2004 07:57 PM

STi8 On a full tank I usually get approx;

5 BMWs
1 Porche
37 TTs
864 Smiles
5 Ar$e wipe moments
74 corners that wouldn't be possible in anything else (for the money)

Enjoy :D

Yorkie 30 January 2004 07:58 PM

Fit PPP and see 34 mpg :).........

A mixture of motorway at 70 and at a steady 30 - 45 on congested A roads though :D

PPP DOES improve mpg overall though.

muly 30 January 2004 08:21 PM

steveho 30 January 2004 09:43 PM
