I have had armourfend on my car for a year...
and it has been brilliant...no stone chips
at all.....have used jet wash and it does not
peel off.....you can wax over it, it doesn't
matter...only visible from close up......
downside.....expensive.....if you use polish which leaves a powder residue it will put a
outline around the armourfend......not a
problem for me because I use Zymol which has
no powder residue......
I have it on the bonnet,bumper,door mirrors,
headlights and fogs.....car still looks
brand new.....you can peel off when it comes to selling your car if you desire.....
I used to have headlight and fog covers but
they would always get dirty from the inside
which would make the lights look dull...so
I got armourfend to cover them...while I was there I saw two large boxes ready for delivery to Prodrive......
I live in Wembley..if you want a look...let
me know...

Has anyone had this stuff applied to their car?
I've got a DBM car coming, and have seen the postings about it being a b*gg*r for chipping. I like the idea of the armourfend stopping the chips, but don't want the car looking like it's wrapped in cellophane!
So...what's it look like, and what do you do subsequently about waxing the car?

Not exactly a reply, but to add the same question regarding lacquer. What are the prices for the 2 methods of protection. What happens if the Armafend/lacquer itself gets damaged, does this then look worse than paint scratch that can be waxed over?

I've seen it on Elises, yu can see the join where it is stuck on, but only from 5 foot or closer, works very well and can be taken off if gets scruffy - expensive though.
Saw a guy at PS on Sunday with a competing product on his car, got it from Motor Mode UK according to the card he handed me - if anyone wants the number drop me a line on chuckster@22b.com .
I want someone to guinea pig it for me because I am looking to do it too.

Sounds like a very positive recommendation!!
Do the Armourfend people do it for you, or is it a DIY job? If it's DIY, how difficult is it to do a good job (- cos DIY is not my favourite leasure-time activity)?

You can get them to do it or DIY, I got them
to do it because it can difficult....bumper
for instance....you also get a gaurantee
from peeling if they do it....I must stress
that they do charge and it is not cheap....

I've just taken delivery of some kits. They are made by Motormode and cost £89.95+vat.
Too late for my car, but a very cheap way of keeping the front end chip free.

Pete, presumably the Motormode is the same type and quality as the Armourfend?
I would have thought that the main areas to be protected are the bonnet and bumper, and the door mirrors, and (possibly) the front wing panels? What does the Motormode kit include?

It is basically heavy duty, UV stable plastic, that has a high transparency value.
The Motormode kits covers the front of the bonnet and wings plus the horizontal forward faces of the front bumper. 7 pieces in all with easy to follow instructions.

Emmmm.
Maybe I've just been unlucky. I expect that my decission to try and fit the armourfend stuff myself to my first Scoob was a mistake. I found it VERY difficult to make even a half decent job. I would STRONGLY suggest that if someone is interested in this stuff, that they get the people who supply the stuff, to fit it. I also found them very un-helpfull when I complained about it. Only my personal experience with this stuff and like most things in life. I'm sure others will have got on OK with it.
