Also how can you tell what exhaust system Im 99% sure the back box is from SS, but how about the rest of the system is there any way to just pop the bonnet and check to see if its standard!! as the thing makes a racket!!!

When am I going to see this car Letdown?
Bring it round at the weekend and I'll check out your exhaust for you, although by our previous discussions it sounds like a Scoobysport item to me.
Neil.

Letdown (like the name, hehe)
I have a full SS exhaust and this bang appears to be a trademark of an aggressive gear change.
I would check the manifold and the midsection as well.

Letdown,
This could be caused by a couple of things...
If your gearchange technique is a bit brutal, you sometimes get a bang as the drivetrain takes up a shock load as you re-engage the clutch. I think the bang comes from the rear diff twisting and hitting the rear subframe. This is 'normal', but obviously to be avoided for reasons of mechanical sympathy.
It may also be a mild backfire (also 'normal'). My car still has it's full compliment of two cats, but a muted backfire can still be heard through the tailpipe (more of a low pitched 'pop' than a 'bang' if that makes sense ).
Cheers,
Alex
