Just back from Powerstation where I saw a certain Mr Litchfield with his lovely C spec. But wait!.... After it had just been fitted with an imported american 2.5ltr engine

That'll shift!

Hmmm Wouldn't mind one myself!

I thought the Spec C had a factory 320bhp, why would he want to put in a 2.5ltr which produces less bhp?

I reckon there gunna get even more from the new engine....

But what do I know? Maybe less lag, or more torque at low revs. Dunno really, all I know is it's going to be reviewed in the press soon (according to the staff at Powerstation).

Keep em peeled!

john coffey, are you on the wind up? in not have you not read any of the threads regarding possible power output of a 2.5 impreza engine? I don't think it will be kept standard

How's a Spec C with a 2.5ltr block going to push out less power than a Spec C with a 2.0ltr block then?

Me thinks it will be rather rapid now (just when I was catching Iain up with my exhaust just fitted), curses!

Will be interested to see how it affects the handling having a heavier engine up front

Question

Daz,

is it heavier? And by how much?

I would have thought that with bigger holes in it, it would lighter

Ian,

good luck with it - I think it is a sound idea!

Ian
I have had no end of problems with the Milltek exhaust fitted to my JDM Sti. I believe that you have the Milltek fitted to yours.
Why can't Milltek get their act together.
The lads at Powerstation have had the car 3 times now and the heat shields keep coming loose.
Are you getting Milltek on your new car ?

Nick,

I have had the Milltek on mine for 7,500 gentle miles and have had no problems. I don't know of any others (they have sold quite a few) that have had problems. If you still have a problem with your heatshield give Rich/Milltek a call and I'm sure they do their best to sort it out

Iain

Thanks Ian.
Rich told me that this had happened on quite a few of the exhausts where Milltek have reduced the weld around the manifold downpipe. They tried spot welding twice and last time took the downpipe off to seam weld the shield. I've now got another rattle from the xhaust which is driving me crazy.
It's just as well that the car goes like proverbial off a shovel to compensate.
Where are Milltek based anyway ?

Glad you like the performance Milltek are in Derbyshire.
We have had a number of STI9 JDM cars with a noise that sounds like its coming from the exhaust but it is actually some small bracket or something under the dash. Give me a call tomorrow if you like and I talk you though what we found on our cars.

Regards

Iain

basic 320bhp? i thought it was 3200bhp? these figures change by the day...

there is only one japanese spec c made by subaru and that is with a 2.0 litre engine. unless iain has fitted the 2.5 litre engine and called it "the litchfield spec c", then the spec c has basic 280ps (272hbp) and is probably good for 0-60 in 4.3 secs (since I've done 4.6 in my jap spec sti running on V power out here in hong kong).

for the car to punch out 320bhp, I'm sure iain has to do a few little tweaks and remap the fuel system to run on UK fuel.

Glad some people believe me now!

C'mon Prodrive / Subaru! Give your loyal U.K. customers a 2.5ltr turbo Impreza!

I'd snap one up! What does everybody else think? I reckon it'd go down a storm!

Thumbs up

PPP99,
i think we are going to get the 3ltr Impreza when its out in a few years time, the 2.5ltr was for the american market, and they prefer cc's as it looks good (but they may not get the 3ltr so thats better for us )

if the americans prefer cc over performance, then just maybe they should buy a sherman tank as i'm sure they'd be more cc available.
