Sorry guys please don't move this to the muppet section although I am.

can't get the car started all that happens is the car will be fine as usual but all i here is a click and that is it when i turn the key, I thought it might have run out of fuel so immediatley went to the nearest garage and filled a can up with optimax brought it back and tryed again. CLICK !!! nothing

if i keep the key turned the alarm goes off, and nothing. I assume that the battery is fine because all the lights come on and the alarm sounds,

Imobiliser ??? where the hell is it and how can i turn it off, the car is a STI-8,

but soon to be an STI-8 in flames because the next can will be poured over it followed by a match.

its winding me up, the car hasn't been started for 6 days if that makes a difference ??? it also has anti-hijack installed but i have switched that off and on to see if it is the cause but nothing.

Please Help in dire need

Call Subaru Assist.

Sounds to me like the battery just doesn't have enough power to crank the engine over. I have read a few posts on here about batterys on the STi 7 and 8's.

I wont move you to the muppets YET though

Cool

I'm really surprised it's the battery...I've not started mine in over a week and it's fine.

not being stupid or nuttin' but have you got the clutch fully depressed when you're turning the ignition?...

(shut up you guys!, it could happen!!!...LOL)

Maybe your added security is draining too much power from the battery when stood for a while.

Try pushing it 100m down the road. A few people had a problem with radio signals interfering with the immobiliser / alarm.

Do a search, but that might do it.

Maybe just a bad battery connection, worth checking I'd say.

Battery almost definately. What alarm do you have fitted?
On my montego I had a concept 50 and it would drain the cars battery in about 6 days. If you tried to start it, you might get a starter motor click, but the alarm would sense the current drop and set off as it had it's own battery back up.

i've had the same problem with my 01 wrx when its been unused for some time.
Even though the battery will not turn the engine the alarm will sound. All i do is give it a 24 hour charge up and then its fine.

OK answer is here : keep this thread going just in case it happens to anyone else,

battery runs low, you try to jump start it with leads off another car. NOTHING !!

You then swithch then try to start it nothing

you then use a heavy duty battery cahrger and try and start it again nothing !!!

you then fill it with fuel because your worried there might be an air lock in the fuel line and the weight of a higher load of fuel might dhift it. NO Nothing,

Getting the spare keys from the draw because someone might have been using a eletrical device in the area the exact same time you went to your car and it has sent the immobiliser haywire.

Car Started !! flipping heck the immobiliser protects the car against phillips shaving devices nicking your car. at leats it drives now
