You may remember I was having problems with the performance of above, been running on optimaz for 2 months and its is still missing.......has a blip at 5k in second and a flat patch 5-6k in third......slowly driving me mad.....dealer syas computer reports no fault so nothing they can do.........helpful, this is my 3rd scooby and most definatly the worst!

Any ideas.....(already have the big hole in ground and petrol with a match!)

Wink

Maybe PPP will sort it out, after all you get another (i.e someone elses engine management chip) to replace your own. Perhaps this is the answer, also you get more performance and a better sounding exhaust

optimax could be the problem , i have a 52wrx and use nul or sul find probs with optimax, find nul runs fine you loose a little power but unless you drive 100% all the time you hardly notice .i got slated on here for say you can use nul in your car (52wrx)but i find no probs , i use a power booster like stp or max power and my car runs fine.i have just had the 10,000 mile service

My prev 01 WRX ran terribly on optimax, really, really bad.
Fine on sul and little different on 95.
Dealer reset ecu etc still same and yes i tried 3 tankfuls.
Now 02ppp ok with it but still feels flat sometimes, reckon sul best all round...

Make sure you add your comments on Optimax to the next thread someone puts up about how fantastic it is.

I've given up saying so for now but when/if I get another Subaru, it will be run on BP or Esso SUL, not Optimax.

Agreed - SUL is the best for me. My MY02 seems to hesitate and run unevenly on Optimax....

Cheers

The response last time was to use optimax...possibly the best petrol in the world! NOT.

Will return to super unleaded as before.........is there anything i can put in the tank to help?

my my01 seemed lumpy on optimax and ran better on nul but since the ecu remap it's loads better and smoother on optimax and sul than nul.

Is the problem fixed by not using optimax. ?

Strange becuase you said there was the same problem before you started using it

You cant really blame the fuel if there is something already wrong with the car, can you ?

Anyway if you dont like it dont use it but wont you still have your original problem, which was ?.

Optimax didnt fix the problem unfotunately....only now are people saying that perhaps this fuel isnt the best after all.....obviously down to individual petrol stations and cars.

Taking it in again for them to have a look at it again to see if they can fix it.

The dealer told me the problem (90% sure)was fuel, after very good recomendations on this board was advised to use optimax...still no better so like you say cant be a fuel problem.... but what the hell is it?

Rich I use optimax and found to be the best of the bunch (in my import). Sounds like you have a strange one there. I guess its a case of try and few things and see what happens. Maybe worth pushing the dealer into swapping the ECU just to see if that make a difference. Its quicker to do and the only cost would be a few minutes of a mechanics time (assuming they have a demo car available to take an ECU out of).

I too run my MY00 PPP'd scoob on optimax with no adverse effects but change of fuel is the first thing that you could try as not all tanks where fuel is stored are 100% perfectly clean.
