Why your scooby is no better than a citroen 2CV/Dyane in an accident
#1
Well according to these transport stats it isn't. Could be that the accidents involving the impreza were at high speed whereas it wouldn't matter what speed the 2CV were going at, as since they're all made of recycled coke cans you'd be flattened anyhow.

That would be the Bowler shown on Top Gear...That's a hell of a car.. 0-60 in 4.8 was it? I think I need one of those.
There's a question....Bowler or Scooby?
sorry that was nothing to do with crash tests!!!

Fair stats I guess.
Impreza is pretty safe from these figures - ie the risk of some form of injury is quite low, but risk of death is proportionately higher than is average for the size/group of car, as we as a group tend to drive them too fast.

I've seen the aftermath of a scooby crash, and it encouraged me to buy one. A friend of mine flipped and rolled her Terzo, she was shaken but completely unharmed. Car was written off, but did it's job of protecting her admirably.

There was a US Impreza test of the Classic shape with airbags, and it scored the equivalent of 4 out of 5 stars which I believe compares roughly to the present Euro NCAP I believe. Which for the age of design is impressive I'd say, and encouraged me to buy one.

The shell on Scoobs is impressively strong as anyone who saw my prang at Dono wil confirm.
Totally straight and even the doors still opened. Drove it into pitlane as well.
(they built them for Colin to drive remember )

Look at my olf car below and tell me that the impreza isnt strong. This was the result of a 90mph+ barrell roll, landing on a kerb directly above the drivers seat, hence the v in the roof. It stopped upside down in a tree, and i simple kicked the passenger door open and crawled out!!
This car saved my life, as no doubt others would have in the same circumstances, hence why i bought another one.

Steve - you're a lucky man to have survived that. I'm sure looking back at these pics still acts as a painful reminder, though.
This is a similar level of damage as my mate's Terzo, although that landed on the rear of the roof, so it didn't look as bad from the front. Thankfully no trees were involved, she landed in an open field - it could have been much worse. There were no witnesses to the crash, but the fact that she took out only the top half of the hedge (through wich she flew) suggests it was quite acrobatic.
Don't doubt the strength of these cars - the shell is VERY strong.
