Well, I get £2240 but I'm crap at maths!

I took 16000, divided by 25 (rough mpg) which gives you 640 gallons, I think, then times that by 3.50 cos that's what I think a gallon costs, not sure though and can't be arsed converting it to litres This brings me to my total of £2240

However much it is, it's far too much and we see **** all back for all the tax we pay on the damn stuff!

Yup - spot on. I worked it out to £2,285.
Thats average tank (50 litres fill up) does about 280miles
16,000 / 280 = 57.1 x £40 (thats what 50 litres Optimax costs me) -= £2,285.

Bargain

This is what my 16000 costs on Optimax, bit more than you reckon..

average 23.5mpg no matter how I drive (except on the rare occasion I do a long motorway run when I might get 26mpg.. oooooooooo....)

about 78.9p/litre optimax

4.54 litres/gallon

16000/23.5 x 4.54 x .789 = £2438

Damn wish I hadnt done that!!!! £2500, £2500......
and I'm actually doing 18000m a year, £2750 ****!

Makes you wonder why the government discourage fuel in-efficient cars, just think how much tax they can get... By the way that was a joke before some environmentalist comes and sails a Greenpeace Warrior in to this thread....

At that sort of money I'd be very tempted to convert to gas.
I like the idea of using gas, I think its one of the ways to go, but it seems to have gone quite now, just when pumps seem to be all over the place now.
Cheers.

One of the best feelings i get in my MY01 is when i have just filled it up and the petrol gauge moves upwards not downwards, pity it doesnt last long before it goes in the other direction.
