Scooby Blasted By A Peugeot 206 ...
#1
Coming home from an "event" on Sat night, got stuck behind a truck and a few cars. Thought about overtaking in a couple of places but no real chance to blast past them.
Several minutes later, the car sitting on my tail blasted past and took the lot, me, 3/4 cars plus the truck. I would have overtaken first, but I could see it was a special car, could see the row of lamps on the car from my brake lights. Thought I would let him do his stuff, quite right, turns out to be Marcus Gronholm in a Peugeot 206 WRC, on his way back to parc ferme in Auckland. Didnt blast past as fast as I thought he would do, though. Quite cool I thought !!
About six hours earlier on the way to the service area, came accross a mitshubisi evo only doing a few k's less then 100kph. After 10 k's I thought I'd overtake, to get past, turns out it was Francois Delacour in No 7. Quite cool too.
Not many people can say they overtook/were overtaken by a WRC car on the Road, driven by a WRC driver.
Good rally, get my pics back tomorrow.

Yea same here man, i got passed by Marcus on the way to Maramarua. Gave him a wave, but didn't get one back. Damn good rally all up, pity about Solbergs late retirement though. I got some pics on the way too, and some great video too.

Colin Mcrea, Richard burns and a host of others overtook me in Corsica during shakedown.
I was in a hired Fiat Punt, coming away from the stage. I must admit they dont exactly pass you in great places, if something was coming the other way it could have been ugly!

In this years Rally Germany we caught up to Tommi Makinen on a road section, we were driving along side for a couple of seconds (dual carriageway) before he noticed. When he did notice he dropped it a peg and sped off!! then he lifted off and we caught him again and he gave us a grin and a wave! I have a photo somewhere. To say we were slightly giddy at the time would be a very large understatement.

Two years ago I had most of the top drivers pass me on their way back to Cardiff from Builth Wells. Most exciting drive and got a big wave from Richard . Best bit was when Delecour overtook me in his Peugeot and then couldn't get any further due to oncoming traffic. It must have been 3 or 4 miles before he could overtake again. I was the loon hanging out of my drivers window filming him, all the time making sure I didn't run into the back of him and put him out of the rally
