Hi, I was hoping to purchase a P1 Prodrive backbox but unfortunately Subaru are out of stock. I am very impatient so I have now decided to buy a Scoobysport backbox instead.
Everyone tells me that the ss Backbox is a nice bit of kit. But how loud will it be on a standard MY00 impreza. I don't want something to noisy!!.

Please advice me as I need to order it and fit it before TRAX on Sunday.

Cheers.

Everyone's perception of "loud" is different. You need to find someone with one fitted and go hear it.

Be warned, they vary from car to car though....

I fitted one on Thursday (see reply posted in P1 backbox thread) and it seems to have passed the "wife's approval" test so can't be that loud!

Currently have a SS backbox on my MYOO and it sounds great without being too imposing, even on long journeys.
Only when you start replacing the mid or downpipe will you get a drastic increase in noise level that you "may" find unacceptable.

All I can say is that the backbox fitted to the PPP on MY00 is very quiet indeed. Unless you are gunning it's not intrusive at all. Even my wife agrees and that is saying something.

Running SS backbox and downpipe.
Whilst on a recent run, I was informed that is sounded like a TVR.

It's all bass. The sound is Lowwww. It doesn't seem loud but you can hear it inside your house. (with the car outside) I haven't met anyone who didnt make a positive remark about the great sound. For me it's not loud enough though...

I don't find it too loud inside the car but every now and then I wonder why people in the street ahead of me are turning around. I soon realise its cos they can hear me coming.

As they say in the States "Loud pipes save lives".

If you do get one fitted you'll searching out tunnels, in order to wind down the windows and then gun it!

Got the whole 3 bits from SS. It is wonderfully noisy!

Did it in 3 stages, so, if you want to avoid really loud pops and bangs on the overrun, then avoid the mid section replacement.

Glad these speed cameras don't take sound too!!!

If you dont want too much noise then avoid my little setup, my95wrx ss dp, hks mid and hyper muffler bb, what a noise, bought this system to get a little more noise than I had but this is rediculous, hopefully swapping system soon, like ss bb but not been offered one on a swap yet.
