I'd go for the P1 too. The MY01 is growing on me though, however the P1 is in the class of collectors item, even though not all have been sold yet. It will become a collectors item IMHO. If you will be spending that sort of money on buying the P1 then maybe you should wait for the official UK Euro spec MY01 STI and see what that's like. Then make up your mind, but then the P1's may have all been sold by then. This is where my problem would be. Would I buy the P1 now and not miss out on one, or would I wait to see what the STI would be like and risk missing out on the P1 if I did not like the STI.

3 grand you say!!!
On my MY98 I lost 4 grand plus another 3 grands worth of extras. (18 months old)
On my MY00 I lost 4 grand plus another 2 grands worth of extras. (10 months old)
Hope my P1 looses 3 grand in a year that would be OK with me.
BTW I hope to keep this one, but I do wonder why when I drive down the street with the full SS exhaust singing, everyone keeps looking at me. Kids drop there cornets and point, dragons throw themselves at me. Sorry I’m getting carried away again, best I go to bed, night night.

For the record, average depreciation of P1 that is 6-12months old with 15-20K seems to be around the 10K mark, additionally, if you've had any upgrades done just add there cost into that figure..

Nwar,
MY stands for model year, 01 refers to teh new shape in the uk, 02 refers to the new shape in the US.
I dont know why anyone would go for the new sti. For a start teh uk version is going to have 260 bhp because they cant get them through the new import regs without remapping. And second of all, it is carrying almost 200kg more weight, mostly at the front.
It may be stiffer, but you are starting from a lower position. I dont see how you will ever match the straight line performance.
Buy a P1. Keep it forever, stick a roll cage in it, sod the depreciation and have teh best of all worlds.
Plus it looks a lot nicer.
Although D+C T S' cars look great.

I reckon when the new sti is released you will lose a hell of a lot of money on a p1, ie 3 grand plus in 12 months so i'd keep the money in me pocket and look at the sti first.

The rumour is around January. Since you are going second hand, the P1 is the best choice.
It's tuned for the UK fuel and still has roughly 280 horses. As long as you run it on 97 RON SUL fuel. Also it's tuned for the UK roads. I wish they were available in left hand drive for Greece. I'd have bought one without doubt.

Oh I know that Adam. I'm talking about the P1.
The new STI will be available in Greece in left hand drive. But the P1 isn't. And when I bought my scoob last year, if the P1 would have been available I'd have bought one.

sorry wrexy, read out of context. Can see it now.
Personally I would compromise by buying an sti 5 type r or type ra v lim (like scott davies) and spend money on that.
Will outperform a p1 by miles, and wont be s common.
There may be 1000 p1s, but they are all on british roads.
Scotts car there are 500 of in world I think!

Adam, i have owned an sti5 typeR before i got the P1. In terms of handling there is no contest, the P1 wins EVERY time, unless u love very stiff suspension and serious oversteer. The P1 is specifically for UK roads and it shows.

All U.K. P1's are sold !!!
Be careful, any P1's coming up as new are I believe "imported" and as such do not carry the same value or warranty ?
Barrats motorsport also placed a thread on here within the last few days re; P1's.

Mellow
I think you might find that some dealers still have new ones. My dealer did last week.

We have had this thread more than once. Do as search and see the results. Like Dr Evil, I have previously owned a P1 and now MY01. I would not go back.
