yet again another maf sensor gone 2 in a year

whoever patent them must be living in monaco sipping a cocktail right now as i type

what cheeses me off is that i was going to the japanese car show in rettendon today and so i have had to miss it as a car that can only do 2500 rpm isn`t particuraly cool

so how many have you had go

oh by the way going to chessington tommorrow as a family in my 70mph max speed van is a delight i cant wait

first of all i thought i may of met you on a track day i did at croft as that is the last time i used the silver alloys on track (i think) and then i thought how do you know the name of my dog

my wife sais do you know her name cos if you dont she wants to know why you dont that could be a little clue for us

sorry if i should know you my memory isn`t the greatest reached 40 in july

oh by the way coming home from chessington i was thinking 5 minutes in my scoob would of been 10 times more fun

well i have had a gearbox replaced 9 months ago and that one started to whine but slick 50 sorted that out

the thing is you can understand a gearbox going with all the abuse that they get (not saying you)

but the maf sensor they are mickey mouse they should never go and at over £300 a time i think you get better value with a gearbox

@ X Scooby, I hope ur still not paying £300 a pop, AFAIK the maf can be bought as the sensor only for approx 70quid!!!
there are numerous threads with the part no, BTW Im assuming ur car is MY98+ not too sure about older mafs?!?!

Cheers

Wink

Throw the MAF sensor in the bin and replace it with a AFM Link module. About £300 and uses a MAP sensor to emulate a MAF

Just a suggestion, but if you run with a different air filter, my garage suggested not to run the filters that you either have to "pre oil" or are supplied "oiled", because as the air flows through it, it picks up the oil and spreads it all over the MAF sensor element, thus burning it on and causing problems. I knoe this is not the case in all scenarios, but may help a few.

hi thanks for the replys

5pint guess what with your advice i have a brand new one from subaru for £72 i cant beleive it i was about to be sold a second hand one from a very very well known scooby service mob for wait for it £180 so you saved me a few quid i owe you a pint or two

hhxx spoke to brd and they were very good with advice and said just get a new maf

steve i have seen your scoob on your drive maybe we may see each other on the road one day

yes i have a cold air feed in the inner wing with a k&n induction kit but the first maf failed as i had a ram air panel filter with all that gooey stuff in it

so the guy who patented the maf sensor is probably drinking lager rather than a cocktail

This is why i imported some genuine STi air filters, because after market oiled filters are more likely to blow the MAF sensor.

Thumbs down

Talking to some guys in Singapore who do track days in Malasia, and MAF sensors are an essential spares item, as they seem to go every track day!
