Was it on camera or was she stopped by an officer? Either way she's looking at a £60 fine and 3 points if she pleads guilty. If she pleads not guilty and tries her luck in court and is unsuccessful then she will get a minimum of 3 points and also incur court costs.

drive87,
Was she not offered a fixed penalty at the time? There are no fixed-site speed cameras on that road, so was she caught by a police car or by a mobile camera?
Fixed penalty is £60 and 3 points, as has been said. But if that wasn't offered, she'll be up in court and it could be more. Depends on circumstances at the time of the offence and, possibly, on driver's history although this shouldn't come into it.

I think you'll find scottish courts treat driving offences much more strictly than english courts. My mate got locked up for 3 months and a 3 year ban for dangerous driving. His solicitor said he wasnt surprised... In the uk he would have got a ban and a fine!!!

Hunterb, this event occured the weekend of the Loch Lomond golf comp.,she wasn't stopped by the police only notified by post.
Glad to hear there are no fixed cameras on this road as I used it two days after only slightly quicker,ahem..
We do use this route regularly and although camera warning signs are aplenty,I've yet to see one.My mother assures me there is one after Tarbet ,before Arrochar.
cheers Drive.

Hmmph, just joined the club, got an NIP this morning for 50 in a 30 for while I was in Leicester.
Is 50 in a 30 going to be around the same amount, or are things going to be worse for me?
Solicitor time?

It makes my blood boil when 1 in 20 motorists may be uninsured and maybe, say 1 in 100 are pi55ed, and they insist on nicking the 'honest' man or woman for 'Going a bit too fast'.
50 lashes and life in the slammer it is then.
