PPP on MY99
#1
I'm going to go for the PPP but just wondered if anyone knew the best price available. I've just renewed the warranty for 2 years so it's the only route to go, plus I ned reliabilty considering the miles I cover. Cheapest so far is £1900.
Any info. appreciated.
Cheers
Neil

Hi mate I had the PPP fitted to my car. It should be a standard price at all Subaru Dealerships or so I was told Therefore you will have to pay it I'm afraid.
Just looked at my invoice, 1675.00 plus VAT comes to 1968.13

Prodrive Performance Pack
A combination of ECU, Centre section, backbox(muffler) and improved intercooler hosing that adds around 35Bhp and Lb/ft Torque to the standard car. It also makes the car far smoother across the rev range and gives the car a lot more pick up earlier on.
More importantly it maintains the 3yr warranty

Neil,
Could you let me know what you think of the PPP when you've had it done?
Am considering PPP or Power Engineering PowerPack 1 for my MY99 so feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Some dealers have quoted £1600 total in the past on the condition that you take the car to Prodrive yourself for the work (Prodrive were in Banbury, but think they have moved) Pretty sure Lavender Hill Garage in Enfield were offering this deal a while ago and others too.

Brun,
he has the extended warranty which means that he can only use approved enhancements (and the fact that you dont get any money back from having a tek 2 fitted to your car and a PPP adds value to a scoob also helps )

Hmmmm. Differing opinions on the PPP. What has been said to me is that being that the car has now done 62k, should I be modding ut now? I intend to keep the car so I can't see why not but is there anything I'm not considering and should be?
Cheers

I don't think opinions differ to the fact that the PPP useful and worthwhile modification, it's just whether it is worth paying nearly 2K for.
As I said Imho yes it is.I imagine the Tek 2 and 3 do a similar job as the PPP,but I personally would rather spend more and buy from a company that has a proven record in modifying rally and road cars for Subaru for a good number of years
(I am in no way 'slagging'the Tek 2 performance package by the way
Flame proof jacket at the ready just in case!

Neil,
I waited until my car was 2 years old and then had the PPP fitted (MY00). I know there are cheaper alternatives, but I like to play it safe and stay within the warranty. When I got it back it was like driving a brand new car. In my opinion it was worth every penny of the ~£2K. I am still smiling now and it was fitted in May.
A couple of recommendations:
1) Get a quickshift fitted as well, it makes an amazing difference. I have the Prodrive quickshift and it's so much better than the standard.
2) Run the car on Optimax or Super Unleaded for a few tanks beforehand. Apparently, you will benefit from doing this when the ECU is reset?!!
3) Get a bloody insurance quote before having the work done. I had to change over from Admiral to Greenlight because Admiral refused to insure me with a PPP.
The only remaining question for me relates to a warranty extension... Do I extend the warranty or get a full Scoobysport decat come May 2003????
Go for the PPP if you can afford it!!!
Wuss.

PPP on MY99/00 increases power to 237 BHP and 258lbft compared with 215 BHP and 215lbft. These I gather are on engine dynos on new engines. So the increase is 22 BHP.
I lost half the value of the PPP in 6 months when I sold the parts. Tek'd ECUs have been sold for less depreciation 2nd hand.
If you want 30-40% power increase for £2k then get a full exhaust system, turbo upgrade, fuel pump and a remap. No warranty and you place an increased risk on your transmission in particular. But it does go rather well.
If you want 20% power increase for £1k then go for a Tek 2/2.5 and a full exhaust system. No warranty.
If you want 10% power increase for £2k and a warranty then get the PPP.
