Knock link Readings
#1
Recently installed a knock link in my car (MY00 UK turbo). it has the following mods.
EVC IV running 1.15
unichip
k&N pannel filter
magnex mid and rear
When driving normally the lower green lght may flsh a bit when the revs pick up. If I boot it I get a peak into the first/second red light and if I do about 5-6000 rpm in 4th the lights start touching and holding on the second redlight. Never seen the BIG Knock light flash though. Does this sound about right, or am I suffering from too much detonation. Help on this would be appreciated as I would rather not blow my engine.
thank
Jon

On a my00 with PPP, SS d/p and resonator removed;
Dedicated knock sensor mounted on front rhs intercooler bracket (as per BRD's recommendation - never lights more that the first led (not the power one), and even then only on gearchange lift-off. Normally just blinks the power led at high revs.
I'm no expert - but red is genrally bad. Your ecu should be trying to back off the timing if the OE knock sensor's picking up the same (you didn't splice into the factory knock sensor I hope?!). I'd get it check prefessionally.

thanks Will look into the sensor position. I have the proper Link Knock sensor but it may be in the wrong place or the sensertivity might be too high.
Anyone else get similar results to mine or Dowser's

I have one a 94 WRX, installed by Bob Rawle so presumably in the right place
I get the power led blinking on start up but nothing else, even at high revs (5K plus - never go any faster!).
Cheers,
Mossman
