Default PS4 or PS5? Or Yokohama Advan Neova AD08?

Hi all,

I need 2 new front tyres on my 2007 Hawk STi.
I see Michelin have bought out a Pilot Sport 5...better than Pilot Sport 4?

Or, can anyone suggest what having 4 of the Yoko's on an STi Hawk is like? Standard suspension set up, slight camber etc...no camber bolts though.

I've never tried Yokohama before.

It's highly unlikely the majority of people on here will push a road tyre enough to be able to tell the difference between premium tyre brands. Just pick decent brand at an affordable to you price.

I tend to agree with this, much of a muchness to me when talking premium tyres (IMHO), I would just match what you have on the rears. I am sure those that are able to drive at the limit of the tyres will be able to advise better though (I probably don't drive mine hard enough). The difference between non premium and premium is huge though, I definitely noticed that!

You have camber bolts on the front as standard, do you not.
Good year Super sports will see you right if your looking for looking for a decent price with performance
Im sure you mean plates that adjust camber within the engine bay, top of struts

I didn't realise mine came with factory camber bolts?, and the suspension is just standard. No plates for geo set up at the top of the struts.

sport 5 are intended to be better than the 4’s , can’t go wrong with vredestien ultrac vorti , plus much cheaper , i have 500 bhp and 500 ft pound going through just the rears and they work very well 👍😁

I’ve just fitted the PS5s hopefully it’s because they are new, but they seem a bit understeery right now. However, quieter than my Dunlops and my transmission noise has disappeared. :-)
I’m hoping the under steer characteristic will disappear after a few hundred more miles. They do get a good write up.

  • No. the tyres were original to the car and had never been changed. This also happened with my Forester but that had tyres changed frequently due to punctures so uneven tread all round. Once I put 4 new tyres on the Forester noise disappeared.
I have done much more than 200miles on the PS5s already. Still feeling some understeer that wasn’t there with the Dunlops, but it is getting better.

Another vote for these, because of price and suitability of stiff sidewall for Imprezas.

Depends on usage. If you're doing track days then the AD08's will be the best option. If it's just road driving then the PS4 are the best tyre I have tried yet but I haven't experienced the Super Sports.
I currently have F1 Asymmetrical 5 on one and PS4 on the other. Both good in the dry but PS4 are better in the wet. PS4's went off after 3 laps of Snetterton so not so good on the track. I have used AD08's and NS2R's for track work and the AD's are better once up to temp and last ages.

ad08r discontinued new rs are crap
zeknova makes tyres in the same tread pattern as ad08r or rs in softer compounds for track
i had ad08r and f1 supersports outperform them and are on par with ps4S

I've not tried the new compound but one of my mates is using the RS on his 450bhp impreza track car and is very happy with them. I wouldn't say they are crap, just not as dominant as they used to be. They're still a good tyre.
I'm very happy with the PS4 on the road.

Completely agree with all this. I use the F1s as a drive to track/wet tyre.

F1 Supersports are fantastic and have hard sidewalls which provide superb steering feel.
The equivalent Michelins would be PS4S (S not for plural but the model of the tyre).
I had Michelin Pilot Supersports 10 years ago and they were great with hard sidewalls but it's an old compound now.
Although I am a Michelin fan, the PS3/4/5 have too soft sidewalls for my liking.

Hardly any of these tyres reviewed are available in the standard widetrack fitment (235/45/17)

Yeah, I had presumed that the OP was looking for the standard newage widetrack fitment. These are interesting reviews and add to the conversation, unfortunately it doesn't help the OP. F1 supersports and PS4S are not available in the standard sizes so far as I can see but I could be mistaken.

I thought standard Hawk widetrack tyre width was 225 not 235?

I'd put a 235 on the 8" wide wheels, that's what both my wide tracks are sporting. You can run a 225 without a problem though, there's more choice at that size and the tyres will likely be cheaper. The 235 just puts more rubber on the road.
