Anyone with a Forester who wouldn’t mind measuring the boot?
I’m looking for a car (or potentially a van, but would prefer a car) to throw the mountain bike in the back of. Problem is they’re big bikes and the only thing that’s tall enough so far is a late 2000’s era Outlander (three bikes stood upright with just the front wheel off fit perfectly in a friends one). However I’ve always fancied a 1999-2008 era Forester and don’t need to carry more than two bikes. I also leave the bikes and car when in work so a bike rack on the tow bar or roof isn’t the most secure either against theft or someone simply reversing into it. It’ll also double up for tip runs and winter fun and the like.
Would anyone mind measuring the height of the boot opening (bottom lock to top door seal) and the length of the boot with the seats folded down?

i’ve had two bikes in mine with the front wheels off , also i had a full sized bath a toilet and a full sized sink in the boot in one load , i moved the drivers seat forward a few inches , im five feet nine inches to get an idea of where the seat was , i can measure the boot later if you still need it 👍

I can't see why you'd have any trouble getting two bikes in the back of a Forester with the front wheels off. I never struggled to get two bikes in the back of my Impreza Wagon and some of them are pretty large. Ok they were stacked on top of each other but that really shouldn't be considered a problem. Stick a blanket between them if you're worried about scratches.
