turbo re builds are not as expensive as you think , you could buy a used one and that could have problems too

Great opportunity to rebuild your turbo for faster spool and more power, good as new for under £500.

Rebuild kits for the td04 are about 30 quid from someone like turborebuild.co.uk if you feel like DIY

If your turbo just has worn seals/bearings, it is perfectly possible to rebuild it at home with the rebuild kits (mark wheel locations first to maintain balance).

I wouldn’t recommend rebuilding at turbo at home there’s a reason engineers spend thousands on balancing machines and everything else.
Get tdo4 reconed by a speacilist
or get a reconed td05

sexond hand turbio isn’t a bad idea there will be a lot of good td04s on market from being upgraded. The one on mine is 6 months old and will be coming off soon as I can be assed with the bolts around bottom of down pipe and turbo itself..... which might be never lol
