Donut Exhuast gasket wont seal!
Hi Guys.
Thanks for the help in previous threads. I'm please to report Scooby passed it's MOT today! Whoop! Emissions were by the skin of thier teeth though, MOT guy said it's probably because of a small exhaust leak on the front section (after CAT). Which is annoying as I fitted a new centre section last night!
So how the hell do I get the donut ring gasket to seal?
Thanks.

Did you renew the donut ? or replace the bolts and springs? Is the centre section designed for use with a donut gasket?

Reading a few other threads I'm thinking I may have bolted the two sections together without lining them up properly. I presumed the bolts would pull them together into correct alignment.

Don't worry about it. It will bed in a seat over time and seal better. They do squash down and you don't need any sealant just the dry new parts you've already fitted. I assume the centre section and downpipe are sitting at the same angle at the joint and there is the same gap top and bottom of the joint? Probably around 5mm gap at a guess between flanges? I had a brand new cobra downpipe that was angled wrong off their production line that needed a pie cut and re-weld to angle it correctly to mate up to the centre section.
