Default Optional boot swimming pool?

Did the Blob eye WRX come with a optional boot swimming pool? I noticed my boot carpet was a little damp in the passenger corner and when I pulled it back there's a gulley that appears to be full of water back of the headlights seem to be ok as from doing some digging it appears this is common and the boot rubber seems to be fine too so i'm guessing it's coming through the whole the same as the guy in this video?

Has anyone else had this or have any further thoughts/advice?

Any help appreciated

Dan

I had the same issue in my old classic, even though the lights look ok they will be leaking from somewhere after months of trying to cure the problem in the end my mate got in the boot with a torch I closed the boot got a hosepipe and poured water on it for around 5-10 minutes and the leak was the seal around my lights in the end so keep looking and I'm more than sure it will be the lights but it not seal the screw holes on the spoiler.

It may not be coming in there, it may have been removed to stop it building up.
TBH, you can't tell if the lights seals are at fault without spraying them on a dry day and feeling for water around the rears...or removing them and looking at the seal. The design is AWFUL and leads to dirt and water ingress. Mine have been out and resealed.

Other areas to check:
spoiler seals
boot rubber sealing strip
that little vent at the bottom of the side wells, one each side
seals along the panels under the front of the boot lid.
rear window glass.

Appreciate the reply but the rear light seal looks pretty knackered to me lol?

LOL, me too.
This is what to replace/reseal it with: http://www.caravan-components.co.uk/...-in-400ml-Tube

Don't worry it's cream, you can't see it once the lights are in place.
DO scrape off all or as much as you can of the old sealant, white spirit helps.
DON'T use silicone, Sika-Flex, etc, you'll never get the lights out again if you need to (Eg accident damage).
DO do both lights.

Hehe thanks dude, yep got some on order apologies for what will probably be a stupid question but where would you apply the sealant on the back of the gasket between that and the bodywork? or completely remove the gasket and apply it around the bolt location?

Hope you get it sorted Dan. Funnily enough, I've just come in from installing a new rubber boot seal. My recently acquired JDM Hawkeye has a propensity morph into a paddling pool after rain when parked on the drive. Weirdly however, it never happens when parked on the drive in the opposite direction. After numerous tests with the hosepipe, I was able to rule out the spoiler seals, and lights. Closer inspection showed the old boot seal was a bit distorted on the outside side of the seal, which meant it was puckering up on the driver's side at the top in some places, allowing water under the seal and able to make its way to the inside of the boot - but only when the car was parked with the driver's side slightly lower due to the camber on the drive. I'm 99% sure this will cure it (Sikaflex on the old seal didn't) but we will see....

I ran a complet 10mm bead around where the old stuff was, then seated the light and tightened it. No leaks since.

I HAVE had to do one again, since it got cracked, somehow, and was letting water into the light unit

Every time I dried it out, the bar stool was full again!
