Default NOOB Help

Hi guys brand new to the whole forum and subaru thing. Go easy on me.
I've found a 2001 Impreza 2.0 GX.
Its a Cat C but looks clean.
It has 85786 miles.
I was just wondering how much you think it is worth and also what things i should look for when inspecting the vehicle.

If you have any links to any threads that might help please would you send them to me.

Many thanks.

yup, the GX would be lower in the range, followed by sport then wrx the STI. I would say even 500-1000 depending on how badly it's been damaged and how well it's been repaired.

£500 for that being a Cat C. Nobody would truly want to buy it, so it should be free ideally.

The fact it's a Cat C doesn't mean it will be any less the car then one that hasn't been written off. Depends what was damaged and how it was fixed. For example if the rear quarter was bent by low speed impact the cost of a panel is £800 fitting and a respray on that area probably £1000. The insurance company would write it off almost certainly. But with a new panel properly fitted and a decent paint job its as good as new.

The issue is of course you won't ever be able to sell it as nobody will want it. People immediately think written off means its dangerous or wont work properly.

So pay minimum. Take the book value and half it at least.

Flame suit on!
None turbo Impreza is just not worth it. Plastic, ugly and sh1te mpg. Way better cars to be had out there. Depends why you want an Impreza really?
It is possible these days that even a Turbo Impreza just ain't worth it anymore!

Maybe because he likes the look of the Subaru and wants one?

Not everyone has to have a turbo and there dick hanging out in a waving contest

Maybe he just wants a Subaru and is looking at a low cost option?

But do carry on and give some suggestions on what he could go for?

I did say that even a turbo possibly ain't worth it any more
I also did ask the question "it depends why you want an Impreza really?"

I was making a simple statement which was aimed at extracting some more info from the OP as to what he wanted as in his words "brand new to the whole forum and subaru thing".

Maybe, he was thinking that an NA Scoob would offer decent mpg and with a few cheap bolt on mods he could have a turbo look alike - not true!

Maybe he was thinking that once he had a look alike, then a few more ££££ would see a turbo engine could be dropped in his GX turbo look alike and he would have a cheap turbo - even further from the truth.

Maybe his end game is to have a Turbo and maybe not.

Until the OP actually comes on and states his intentions then it would be pointless of me to suggest other cars.

Looks more than a negative post to me, in your second post your asking his life story

He signed up to a Subaru forum because he likes the subaru! Not to come in and read some monkey with a BMW picture writing aload of crap how there is better cars etc

It's a bit me like me owning an Audi and signing up to the BMW forum and telling everyone who asks the value of a series 5 for me to post saying that car is ****e and there are plenty more cars out there which are better

Don't know why you waste your time to be honest, do you just sit there and want everyone to hate life as much as you do?

Everyone has different tastes, different styles, different life's

Don't try to make people follow

A bit harsh.

I think what he is trying to say is that a lot of people buy an Impreza thinking they are all much of a muchness.
The GX is a dreadful car (I have driven one). All the downsides of owning an Impreza with none of the upsides.
He is just asking if the op is after a performance car or just an Impreza because he likes the looks.
And it is a Cat C, which does warrant some further investigation.

Believe it or not, he is actually trying to help.

Now chill out and go and spank the monkey or something.
