Cool new member looking for a nice impreza

hi there guys and girls. ive been having a look at this site for a couple of months and thought it would be best to join.

i cant believe how much info is on here. some very clued up and helpful people.. im looking into buying a wrx. would even look at the wagon as long as its in good condition. i have upto 6 k to spend. and have seen a couple of sti's for sale around that price.

now im not looking at putting lots of mods on it. im just looking for a good clean car. good history etc.

i was close to buying a nice red wrx last year local to me in worcestershire. but i have always been one for at least looking at a couple of cars before buying.

long story short it sold the next day. and i regretted not buying it ever since. . still you live and learn i look forward to getting something in the coming months.

ive had. mi16 205. and a mint 4x4 cosworth over the years. the my daughters where born. so went back to boring cars. passat tdi. etc

now the kids are abit older. and im lucky i dont have to do many miles a week. fuel isn't really a issue so thought it was time to look at buying a nice impreza.

i will keep a eye on sales.

Basic Rules of Scooby ownership

1. Dont waste your money on a WRX, save an buy an STI
2. Buy a JDM model (Newage twinscroll or Classic Type R) - Far superior cars
3. Dont ask questions about dump valves
4. Dont put stickers on your car
5. Dont let the forum trolls wind you up

Good look on your search, itll be one of the best cars you've ever had (providing you dont buy a WRX or a UK car)

Welcome to SN Jamie, for £6k you should find what you are looking for.

You will find a lot of fanboys on here who can be quite bias, but they are all full of very helpful knowledge

Thanks guys. I prefer the blob eye. But would have a bug eyecif it was a nice one. To be fair the condition of the car is more important then what shape it is.

The older model classics are nice. But very good ones are rare now. There are a number of them around where I live and starting to look there age. As for the dump valve comment ) I agree there not my thing. had one on a cosworth years ago and it was soon took off.

As for the import comments? Are parts easy to get. Same parts case I'm cars ? I know little of map import models

If you went for classic shape there are tones of parts about, and as the amount of classic's go down parts are getting cheaper.

You can buy an imported sti classic in mint condition for 4-5k that's just been imported so will be rust free. Would just need wax oiling etc

Or a blob, as Hawkeye has the Thornton's engine, and bolb is cheaper to tax and run. But as been said best is STI, although you can get a decent low mile blob WRX for 4-5k mark

Decent blob STI will be 7-9k+ mark depending on spec
