Thumbs up

Just picked up the post this morning and my Broquet has arrived. Guess what I'm doing this weekend!

Many thanks to Simon and David for putting together a wonderful deal on Broquet.

At least now I'll be able to decide for myself wether it works, rather than relying on the words of some people who've not event tried it.

I will post my findings when I have them

Question

What are the installation instructions like?

Will it be easy enough to put into my 5 Door?

(Remember I'm in IT and not used to getting dirty hands )

Good luck with the fitting of the Broquet Markus...

JGM,
lol yeah, you get a real buzz when you open them up and have a sniff! just don't light up near them!

I am a little worried about DIY'ing it, as messing with fuel tanks is not a really smart move, but hey, if i can do it then anyone can!

Cool

I actually thought they were small enough to just put down the filler pipe!
Can you not cut them in half and just pop them in ho ho...

So if you have the cigarette already lite that is okay? just don;t light it up once in the boot with the tank tops off?

Well it has been nice knowing you Mark...

Seriously... take care messing with the tank, I am sure it is fine, I have to take the top off the tank to fill my bike all the time it is only the same... just more screws and in an enclosed boot space...

About what time are you fitting them? I shall look out for the fire lit sky....

Question

Just opened my packet, the instructions say if you've a car fitted with a cat converter you're filler pipe will be too narrow to fit the Broquets that way - I assume as mine's an import and hasn't been fitted with the NUL filler restrictor I'm okay to install through the filler - anyone shed any light on this ?

Kevin,
good point!

blackbeast is an import, and I 've not got fuel filler restrictor, so they should pop straight in, however, I don't know if/how many, tight bends there are from the filler to the tank.

I'll email David and see if he knows.

Cool

If you look under the off side rear arch and under the back you can see the plastic pipe I believe it goes straight down and curves slightly into the tank...
But that could just be a plastic cover over a zig zaging pipe... but worth looking into.
sounds like a lot less hassle.
Are the pelets quite weighty? will you some times hear them clonking the side of the
tank? time will tell I guess.

I'm sure I read somewhere that to be properly effective you needed a Broquet on each side of the tank. I am not to sure this will be acheivable using the filler pipe. I too have an import but am waiting a few days as I may be changing to a newer WRX.

Question

Surely whilst driving they will swish about?
especially with the acceleration and braking of a Scooby?

Have had response from email to David Lock, waiting for his permission to post it, but also has similar info from Julian on IWOC.

Basically, the impreza fuel tank is is 'saddle' shaped and you need to have one mesh in each side of the 'saddle' hence the requirement to open the access panels to get to both 'saddles'

JGM,
as for swishing about, well, I had thought that myself, though I think that the exhaust + stereo on the blackbeast will probably cancel out any noise from the tanks. Will let you know about the 'swishing'

barge,
think it's too early to tell. I have only drive aprox 20 miles since fitting it. Will give it at least a tank or two, which hopefully should see some increase in MPG.

I must say that I did think it idled a bit smoother the sunday morning when I started her up, but I think that's really my imagination, as I don't think it works that quickly, but hey, I might be wrong.

Rest assured that I'll let you, and everyone else, know what differences I've found.

Talking

Markus I'm my points helped.

Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference in the 130miles I’ve travelled since fitment, although I say this with trepidation I think she is slightly more responsive just before, and at the point when the turbo starts to spin up on boost. And I say that because she was responding like she does when the temperature is cold, and at the weekend it was most certainly warm and sunny.

Anyways all I’m after is a few miles per gallon

Who knows, we shall see.
