Default My 1989 Nissan March Superturbo

First off obviously not a Scooby but i think it deserves a project thread. I have had this car since 2006 and cant find the heart to sell it.Well I've decided to make a start on it , turbo has been sent to Turbo Technics today to be rebuilt as there is nearly 100k miles on it roughly I think.Exhaust housing is cracked to ####. Allot of play in the shaft.
So should hear back from them next week.
Other plans are recondition the head, valve seals, seats , clean up ports etc
And also a set of piston rings. I will inspect the main and rod bearing for wear but they should be fine.I am going to modify the oil pump for more pressure also
Here's is a few pictures of o the work so far

It basically has been a track toy for the last few years and a run around but I have decided to make it a full time track car, i have time now that most of the hard work is done to my Sti wagon.

I think the boys from Mighty Car Mods have / had one of those and thought it was a right hoot. It's like the GTiR's evil little brother.

Thanks for the postive comments .

Yes Marty from mighty car mods , I helped with some info on the bypass control for the supercharger / turbo changeover and supplied with the vital part to get proper running of his car.
He mentions it in Episode 15

Allot people may laugh at it ,it is what it is "a micra" but anyone that gets out in this on a trackday that has a negative opinion of the car will quickly change their mind.

If anyone has any question about the engine please ask

It can be anything you want it to be mate

When It was mapped with a greddy emanage 3 years ago with the hybrid turbo (supercharger un touched) it made 151hp and 123torque on a dyno dynamics dyno ,in track form it weighs about 750kg without a driver, its just over 200hp per tonne

all from a 930cc 8 valve engine thats 22 years old!

Just off the phone with Turbo technics, the turbo needs a complete rebuild,I will have a phone call tomorrow about pricing, intially I was told between £195-375. I also found the old receipt that was supplied to me with the turbo when I bought it in 2007,It was built in 2002 so I think it was time for a rebuild

Default Small Update

So I finally got around to fitting the turbo and stripping down the rocker cover , rocker arm etc and giving them a clean out of boredom really and just to have a look.

I also ordered a pair of Yokohama A048-R in medium compound, these are 25% more expensive than the last time I purchased full set. 2 still fitted to the car can go on the rear as there is loads of thread on them

So I had some time to cross the country this weekend to get some work done on the car.
I had restripped the engine and found out the head was cracked so I had a spare and used that.
I got alot done , I fitted the fully reconditioned head ( Valve seals and seat cuts and light skim ) , plumbed up a new braided oil feed to the turbo, timing belt done, valve clearances set, inlet and exhaust manifolds fitted including new turbo also the airbox. So it basically nearly ready to be fired up, just fresh oil and coolant needed, some wiring and then modify the seat rail to fit the new seats.
