Great car in every way. The only reason I didn't buy one is because of the gear change !!!! Ive been used to Audi's over the years and the dsg is seamless as such, where as the M5's change aint so smooth.....
Apart from that they are a great car if you can suffer the running / servicing costs !!!! I feel depreciation used to need to be concidered too, but they have lost most of their money now so are quite a good buy imho !
Ricky !

you can pick up a private sale for well under £20K...I traded mine in for my current M3 in dec 09 and got £19k for it, daylight robbery by my local bmw stealer !! (probably sell for 23-24kish by the bmw Stealers)
I had try to sell it to my friends ....but no one had £20k in cash to spare !!

The warranty direct warranty I got with my Mercedes from an indi was more comprehensive that the main dealers. Ive not had to use it fortunately so cant tell you how easy they are to claim but it lists almost everything except discs and pads. The only downside is the £150 excess but at least its there for anything bigger.

My mate recently bought one for 16750, 70,000 miles and totally mint. It already had a full Hayward Scott exhaust fitted and he's also fitted a power pulley, ram air induction kit and had it remapped, rolling roaded it made 538bhp. The car sounds amazing and goes like stink! Does around 16mpg though oh and something in the I drive just failed which cost him£2000 to fix.. Ouch, but gear change is no way as bad as people make out, just take your foot off the throttle before changing up or down is the trick apparently!

Absolutely not. The M3 feels quite underpowered, it is nippy but not supercar fast like the M5. The steering is also not as tactile as the M5.
However, as mentioned the gear shift is miles better
