Default clio williams 1

looking for a fun replacement for the scoob, something small and quick and cool, looking at a williams, this is up for sale near me http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2205811.htm says price negoitable, had a brand new gearbox from renault last year and new clutch and recent cambelt, only issues are small crack on front bumper, rear discs need replaced and bit or rust starting to appear on rear arch. thoughts?? anything else i should consider instead at around the 2500 mark?? also thought about a ph1 172 clio? prefer the looks and cult status of the williams though, wont do a lot of miles less than 3k a year, just a toy really.

Go for it, lovely little cars, probably not as much fun as a 172 but being rare, the value should be pretty steady now

yes they seem to be holding their values quite well now, and especially the 1's as they are that bit more exclusive with their numbered plaque etc.

I had its little brother the 16v, and it was such a sorted little car in standard dress, I imagine the extra 13bhp and all the loving touches given to it would make it a great car. Definite classic, go for it.

extra torque over the 1.8, and wider track stiffer suspension etc.

In which case it will be epic, mine handled like a roller skate. I loved it, and so did the pikeys that stole it and used it in a couple of robberies.

Fantastic cars, I bought a brand new Williams 2 back in '95, to this day, still one of the best cars I've owned, loved it

The 106 gti is about 120 bhp while the williams is 150bhp,
The williams is one of the best handling cars i have owned, so much fun to drive.

I know they are only 120bhp but iirc the gear ratios were better on the gti and they were slightly lighter, besides that though my 106 had 160bhp lol and was very fun

Had a Williams myself, wrote it off but that's another story! No way are they slower than a 106 gti, mine was marginally quicker when standard and loads quicker with a full exhaust + decat.
