You'll probably always wish you'd bought the 'S' model.....

I personally like the Cayennes, and had a go in the GTS a while back

I just think the V6 is very underpowered for such a big lump of metal.

I want the S model but the price those 3.2's are going for now is amazing They really seemed to have dropped loads in price in the last 6 months

Answer is they are underpowered. If you can live with that then probably a better bet than a 2.5ltr diesel Toerag IMO.

Things to look out for are just the same as any other used car. Unlikely they will have been used off road or for towing much as they can barely pull their own weight.

That would be me we've got a Touareg 3.2v6 sport, 53 plate.

right economy first, You can get 23mpg on the m'way if driving at 65-70, otherwise it's 18-20mpg, round town is obviously worse. The Mrs does 100-150 miles a day on the commute so we converted it to LPG as soon as we got it, so the hit isn't as bad when fuel is 48p/litre , downside was the conversion cost of 1600, but as it was advertised at 17k and we got it for 13k, it's not too bad.

had the car 3 months and the keyless start/entry module packed up at a cost of 600, so we just use the key for now. Propshaft bearing went last week, cars done 73k, you can't change the bearing and that is 650 for a new VW propshaft. set of 4 wheel badges came out at 40 quid just to give you an idea of running costs. good point is that you can get it on a long life service schedule if you do lots of miles, services are then circa 20k miles, but the car lets you know when it's due.

Coilpacks have a habit of going, but they're only 20 ish each, boot struts on ours have gone, thats 100, and the tailgate glass thinks it's open unless you slam it, but that shouldn't be hard to sort when I get to have a look at it

Even after that, we love the car, miles better to drive than my old ML500, you can sit over the uk speedlimit and you wouldn't know unless you saw the speedo exactly how fast you were going.

For that sort of money, I'd want it checked over by a specialist first and get them to plug it in and see if any fault codes are there.

Doesn't sound expansive, just remember that the tax will be going up soon, check you won't be paying the earth in a couple of years time!

It doesn't last that long either

still, 80 litres of LPG will get you around 380 on the combined cycle, so 38.40 to do 380 miles isn't that bad

One of my customers had one he has trouble with the side lights near the wheel arch and it knocked out all the interior lights, seem to remeber something about you can only get the tyres from porsche as they will not release the tracking data on them his was an "S" though.

My folks have a 4.4 Range Rover, that manages nearly 17mpg. I can only imagine the Cayenne to be the same. A small price to pay for a V8 over a V6 IMO.
