1970's Toyota Celica - what you think?
To people who have owned this car:
1. what are theusual problems I should look out for?
2. Are they reliable?
3. Ae they easy to use?
4. Fuel Consumption?
5. What are the diferrences between the ST and GT, are there any other variants?

Rust is the main thing, thats why they are so rare, quite expensive now and parts are difficult to source, well trim and bodywork, have always fancied one of these, ditton the Manta A series that looked similar.

Rust. They rust like the love child of a 70's Alfa Romeo and a 70's Vauxhall. Only worse. If you watch that picture carefully you'll probably see it start to corrode before your eyes

So ST was either 1.6 or 1.8 (2TB)
There was a 1.8 4pot in fastback.
And 1.8, 2ltr GT twincams, which are easily tunable to over 180bhp.
Reliable if its been well looked after yes, but now you will be looking at a vast mileage, unless its been stored. The ones I had tended to blow the head gaskets, but I drove them into the ground. Very easy to fix the 2TB though, as OHV 4pot engine. And of course rust now.
My ST 1.6ltr was only 80-85bhp so mileage not bad, mid 20-30's iirc.
Look at the 1st/2nd gen celicas on here;

eerr.....now I really really want one. Just started looking and they're more expensive then I thought. Only found 2, one minter at £6750 (1.6 ST) and another £1800 which needs some work plus it has a diesel engine in it
Not in a hurry so I'll wait it out, mabe one will turn up.
bioforger....nice pics, especially the flying one, bet you can't get the Scooby to do that hehe

I wouldn't want to, hit that hill way too fast, landed, pitched sideways, n ended up goin over a wall, the rear diff n all wheels were fecked! I was the co-driver that day, so had to change trousers to
If you really want one, I would only go for at least a 2ltr or twincam engined one.

Well I'm not in a hurry for one, so I'll wait it out till the end of the year. But it'll be hard to find a 2l model in Malta, as the small engiens where the most popular then and still are.
