Default Audi RS6

Got a good look at one today in my local dealership today and i've got to say i was disapointed. While inside is as you would expect from Audi, the outside looks no differnet to a standard A6 with big wheels, no way near aggressive in my opinion.

I'm sure it will be quick with 580bhp but it's also 2.5 tonnes and very big so it's all relative.

Over on the Audi forums lots are requesting deposits back so at 80k it looks like Audi may have dropped a boo-boo here.

Saw that too - was in my local stealers last week testing an S3, and whilst waiting for the car to turn up. had a nose around the RS6..

Disappointed. Couldn't help but think that it's a BIG car - will need the grunt to shift it around....

S3 on the other hand...well

Isn`t that part of the RS brand though? I`ve always like the discreet appearance of the fast Audis.

Volks, your right, however my RS4 is discreet but still looks far more purposful & aggressive than a standard A4/S4 when put side by side.

The same can't be said of the new RS6.

My biggest problem was actually the lack of boot space. Very poor for a vehicle of that size, especially as the whole idea of an estate is a cavernous boot.

Question

Sounds good, can you buy it like that though Is the S3 a good car now as it was always just OK wasn't it?

Hand on heart, I test drove the S3 a couple of weeks ago. Very quick in a straight line, but still had a wooly feel to the steering.

At the same time, I took out a Golf GTi. Not as quick (265bhp vs 197bhp), but SOOOO much more focussed in the handling and steering (despite not being 4wd)

I was that impressed that I will be looking at a GTi ed30 as my next car. Te S3 won't get a look in (or I might bite the bullet and go for the RS4!! )

That said, the Audi was VERY well built, however, I'm not sure that the premium you pay for the marque is justified. Would be interested to see how the cars compare to the Seat and the Skoda (as they're all made by VAG)

Yes there is a guy not far from where I work with a White S3 with black roof, The Edition 30 GTI as the same engine as the S3 but restricted and only FWD, the S3 still has the Haldex 4WD but an updated version. thats why it may feel wallowey but stick to it in a bend and it will hold you down. PS Edition 30 is no longer made and it is the Pirelli Golf with the same engine but different interior and Wheels.
