vw Bora 1.9 TDi
anyone any experience of these diesel booted/salloon Golfs?
Im selling scoob as im buying a flat and just plain cant afford the running costs, but i want to replace it with something considerably cheaper to purchase and to run.
If anyone has driven one whats your opinion like on interior trim/handling/MPG etc... is the 6 speed or the 5 speed better and whats the on the road difference between the 115PS and the 130PS versions?
Thanks guys
Tim

I had a PD150 Bora company car for 3 years. The engine and ecomony were superb, great torque on the motorway and 0-60 in 7.5 secs all with 48 mpg.
Good cabin and sizeable boot with smart interior (sport trims with a few extras).
On the downside, there were a few quirky electrical problems that never took the car off the road, but did inconvenience and the dealers were plain awful. The boat like handling even in sports guise can be sorted with a few mods, bit don't expect a great drivers car!

Have had a PD130 6-speed Passat for 4.5 years -- good REAL WORLD performance, and an average 47mpg. All the toys and well built.
Downsides -- very little driver involvement. It goes where you want it to (most of the time) but no feedback.
Recommendations: get a Sport spec (6-speed box and lowered suspension) as the motor has more torque, the 'box ratios really suit the motor and it doesn't roll and wallow as much as the SE spec

They are a bit floaty boaty, but you get used to it. Other than that typical VAG, bland yet functional, but not too bad overall.
If you think your going to miss Impreza thirst; then try a V5. Floaty boaty AND thirsty; Lovely noise and power delivery though.

I've got a TDi 130 Bora. My friends and family like it, but I find it very dull, especially the handling. The ride quality is very crashy, too.
Quality is good, although mine has a few creaks here and there after 75,000 miles.
The 130 engine is pretty good and the 6 speed box suits it well. I average 45mpg but I don't drive in a very economical way. I drove my usual work route doing all the "economy driving" stuff I'd seen on a website and managed 58mpg Felt like eating my own liver just for excitement.
In summary, nice car with an economical engine with some decent poke. But very, very dull and not fun at all.
Mine's for sale, £4k and it's yours
