Default TVR Sagaris

Posted a few weeks ago looking for comments on getting a Noble..

Just been into a garage and seen a nice ocean blue sagaris, I must say they look as if they could give grown men nightmares, tough looking things

I know theyre not as fast as the Nobles but they look great, especially the lush interior

Is this line of TVR plaqued like the rest of them with breakdowns?

Hmmmmm.. Noble M12 or TVR Sagaris??

Suuba you won't get much help here as few if any have owned either of the two cars on this site. Try PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters

Saying that, about 18 months ago I test drove a Noble 340R and a Sagaris back to back. Both were brand new cars. Both were fantastic cars in certain ways, but there was no way I was going to part with 50 big ones for either of them.
The Sag, even though brand new had bits hanging off inside, the windows didn't shut properly and the whole thing smelt of glue. Personally I would think long and hard before taking such a gamble. Just out of interest how much are you thinking of spending?

I have around £35k max to spend..

Nobles seem good value for money at around £25-30k on pistonheads

Noble vs Sagaris - which is most likely to go seriously wrong most often. Note I didn't ask which is most likely to go wrong...........that's a given

A few of the mags have tested them both - a Noble would pan a Sagaris in every department

Suuba, will it be an everyday car or weekend toy? If the former then you better be one committed serious petrolhead who can laugh when stranded at the roadside.

Would be a weekend toy, but I would use it sometimes to go to work maybe 1-2 times in the week..

Its just I hear so much about the TVR's breaking down etc, but the Noble seems a very solid car apart from the 'kit car' looks which make me favour the Sagaris.. Its a tough one

Have you driven both? I don't know about the numbers but the M340R I drove felt hypercar fast whilst the Sag 'just' felt really fast. The Sag interior looks much much nicer but you could tell the quality was rubbish. Noble haven't even pretended to make an effort with the interior.

Anyway good luck with your decision.

I'd have the sagaris everyday of the week, love the looks and sound of them. Have no idea what either would be like to live with though.

I know it's not what you want to hear and they're a lot slower (on paper but probably not in the real world) but £35k buys a lot of M3 or Boxster S.

35k will buy you a nice RS4 and some mods. Do that and you have a car that would be onpar with the TVR in a straight line whilst being reliable and comfortable.

Don't think so, in a straight line, not a chance the TVR will do it everytime.

You sure about that.

Can pick up a 2002 RS4 for 26k these days, so that leaves 10k worth of mods, or he could just buy this.

Audi : RS4 MTM 460Bhp, Full load

A 450hp RS4 will be neck and neck with a sagaris, a 500hp RS4 will say goodybe to one. Thats if the TVR hasnt broken down before the race has started.

Sagaris every time. It's one of the best looking cars on the road, plus it's just about the fastest. 0-60 in sub 4 seconds? nearly 200mph??

Nobles are kinda cool, but a little bit chavvy imho. Sagaris is just...... brutal.

That looks fast just sitting there. they don't come much more aestheticaly pleasing than that. Audi might be fast but they're **** ugly boring to look at, if I was going to spend some serious money, it would have to look good !!

I've been on the Pistonheads forum for Sagaris threads, apperently the Sagaris will outrun many cars like Modena's etc, however when it hits 160mph the aerodynamics slow it down and let those cars your outrunning go flying past It is rated to 200, but its a case of how long it takes to get there, also told the bonnet starts to flap about at 140. Still keen on the TVR though.

RS4 looks a good bet, I'll look into that

I raced a 460bhp RS4 with my 330bhp classic STi - he got a better start but couldn't put any distance between us. The RS4 was quick - until he lost 1st and 2nd gears

p.s. Sagaris is probably the meanest looking car on the road - even standing still

your sti maxes out at what 150mph

The RS4 will go on to 185mph

Im sure a RS4 will put some distance between the two cars given a long enough stretch of road. Not bad for a estate

TBH unless you're planning on tracking it, it's not that likely you'll be racing many people at over 160MPH anyway.. I wouldn't personally worry about that. All I'm worried about is how fast it gets to 100, how loud it is and how quickly it'll make old people wet themselves when I drive past... the Sagaris ticks every box.

Saying that, the RS4 is probably a safer, wiser decision. If I had all the money in the world and could choose from any car, it'd be a Sagaris first and RS4/6 second. Both are just awesome.
