Default Thinking of selling my scoob and getting a.......

Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7ltr or (and yes i know its not even remotely similar) a BMW 740/750

Has anyone got any experiences of these vehicles, what are your opinions gents

I think i would rather the Jeep tbh, for no other reason other than i fancy one more than the BMW, considering the BMW cos it's an awfull lot car for not much money?

I have driven a 7 series an it was lovely, that was the previous shape, I cant imagine any 4 by 4 matches it.

Honest opinion, for god's sake do not buy the Jeep. The only thing it does is accelerate to 60mph quickly. At everything else it is truly awful, build quality is typically American. Its not for nothing Autocar said was one of the worst new cars they have driven when they tested it.

I don't have much to say about the BM except look out for the depreciation, and the servicing/repair costs should anything go wrong. Buy an lemon and it could be financial suicide, so pick carefully.

I'm not convinced that fuel economy is high on the list of priorities with the choice of vehicles given

When I was in your position I bought a jaguar JXR. £8k four years ago for one that was 6/7 years old at the time. Fuel consumpion was appalling (13 around town) but I only did 5/6k miles. The other costs were surprisingly reasonable. I had one bad service/mot (£1800, a few issues) but the rest of them were ok... 300 odd up to 600 ish. From a specialist rather than a dealer.

It was a lovely way to get about. Very fast, in a relaxed way.

Mine was a late straight six supercharged. Early V8s had a few issues but about 80hp more.

This one would leave you change. Plus the old x300/x308 is, for me, the last good looking XJ (x308 being roughly the same model with a V8 in it).

E2A - mine never let me down, unless you count a flat battery after lying idle outside the house for a while.
