Ford Engines and gearboxes
I know traditionally it's been possible to pretty much mate any Ford engine to any Ford gearbox but I had a thought. I wonder if a Ford V8 (5.0 or 4.6) would mate to an MTX75 and give a nice mid-engined, transverse installation...
I know the 4.6 engine is often mated to the T5 (same as Cossie)

It was only a thought, anyway

Theoretically possible, but you'd end up with a magnified version of the weight distribution problems peugeot had with the T16 - the engine being offset to one side of the car. This was a major development headache for Todt's engineers with an alloy blocked 4cyl motor, I dread to think of the problems an iron block V8 would cause
Also as Ali-B points out I can't imagine the 'box lasting for very long anyway, Ford Europe are hardly known for sufficiently engineering their transmissions, let alone over engineering them
