Vorsprung Durch Technik!
Just picked up this mint, 63k 1993 Audi S4 for a Very Good Price indeed. After 5 years in the automotive wilderness (including a Vento TD .. don't ask) it's good to be back in something rapid!
It has an impeccable history having been owned by Audi UK, then a wealthy London business man for the first 12 years of its life. It's just had a lot of the big ticket items replaced (clutch, brakes, tyres), and I'm not intending to put a lot of miles on it so (fingers crossed) it isn't going to bankrupt me ...
The 300 mile drive home last night helped me rediscover what it was to enjoy driving, and while it's never going to be the last word in driver involvement it makes for a very rapid and refined way of getting about.
What swung it for me was the fact that the early S4 seems to have slipped under the radar of the insurance companies. It's actually costing me £85 less to insure than my previous Mk2 Golf GTI ...?!
Anyone had any experience with these or the later same-shape S6?

Cheers dude. Going to try and get some better pics up once I've treated to a full valet and given the paint a session with the clay bar and Zymol. That's if it ever stops raining ....

Looks very smart, whats the power output and performance on those? I guess its a 2.3 5cylinder turbo or something?
Had a 2.0 5cylinder Audi myself at one point, and it sounded lovely - that should sound fantastic if it is a 5cylinder engine.

According to Wkipedia:
2.2L 5 Cyl Turbo, 230bhp/258 lb-ft, 0-60 in 6 secs, 0-100 in 17.5 and TS of 151.
Nice
Apparently there was also a V8 version. One of them would be a good find!

And yes, it was available with a V8 on the continent, but that version never made it over here AFAIK. It wasn't actually much quicker!
Autotrader prices are around £3.5k for a 120,000 miler, rising to around the £7k mark for the later (virtually identical, but group 20) S6 model.
Least it's stopped raining now and I've given the glass a polish and a coat of Rain-X. So much to do ...

I had a H reg Audi 100 2.0, 5 cylinder, I removed the Cat and replaced it with a Peco Cherry bomb and it sounded awesome, people were looking round wonder where the Quattro was when all they could see was the old land yacht !
