Who IS making the engine for the RS Focus?

Given the "better than you" attitude of certain Cosworth owners, I just thought I'd ask - are Ford going to make it themselves this time, or admit defeat once more? Maybe a BMW lump for this one - NA of course?
You have to laugh at Ford (and GM too) - the world's oldest and largest car companies, budget's of billions but their only performance triumphs have come by buying in technology from others (Cosworth/Lotus etc.). Oh, wait that's not true is it? In the US, the big two have thrown their own high output (non-turbo to boot) engines into SUVs, people carriers and yes, even sports cars for years, yet all you UK'ers are creaming your pants because you've modified your cars (at your own expense). Anyone over there feel cheated? No, you love it - anything to convince yourselves that your ageing (and expensive) "classic super cars" can still cut it.
Meanwhile you whine as you watch cars that cost a little more new than your relic is worth now snapping at your heels, without the owners having to spend all their spare time/cash strapping them back together, but it's allright - you've got a proper car... haven't you? News for you guys - the best bit on your car is the engine - made by COSWORTH and not FORD. Are Cosworth engined Mercedes welcome here? Thought not.
Ford want to sell runabouts and salesman saloons - they haven't made a "pure" sports car for a decade (please don't say Probe, Puma, Cougar etc. - c'mon!). Meanwhile Europe and the Japanese are making MASS MARKET high performance cars for gods sake, not just tuned up special editions of their latest shopping trolley or repmobile.
No war, just a bit of perspective...

What an assh@le, you've got a pretty big chip! There is no difference what Suburu & Mitsibishi are doing now to what Ford have done in the past! As for Scoobys - dont even metion build quality. You're point is so flawed and immature/amature its not worth arguing! This/these sites are for enthusiasts as you are obviously not - sod off & grow up!

ROTFLMAO, Fast & Furious anyone..........
Cosworth engined Merc?? Since when does a modified cylinder head = an engine.
I think the fact that our ageing Cosworths can still compete with up to the minute Scoobs and Evo's kinda says something?

DOH DOH DOH, There are Two Cosworth's - cant remember the names - Cosworth Technoligies (VAG) and Cosworth Racing (Ford) I think. VAG bought one part and Ford bought the other and the rights to the name. You dont honestly believe Jaguar are using VAG engines - LOL

Forget Cosworth and Lotus - what about Shelby? The old Shelby Mustang GT500 was a 7 litre beast - 0-60 sub 5 secs in 1967 is pretty sweet. Pity all the modern mustangs looks like ****.
Add the NOS system ala Nick Cage in GISS's and thats one fast motor u got

I just want to chime in here, the first year that catalytic converters became mando in the US, Cadillac released a 500 cubic inche engine, yes, 500 cubic inches. Not impressed with the sheer size of the engine. Well you will be impressed by its output (which is cetainly not high ) All of 190hp. Yep a whopping 190hp out of 500 cubic inches. Pretty god damn sad isn't it. Another thing to ask is the technology of those "high-output" engines that Ford and GM make, you know, the push-rods!!!

I don't think I can jump in with the Yank bashing, I've got a certain amount of respect for a race so in love with V8's, cracking engines and the simplicity (read damn reliable) is really a plus point.
Anyhow, Yank V8's sound the dogs nads
