My New Ride (2) another Lotus Elise S1
just like Scoobynutta555 , I picked up my 1998 (year older than his)Lotus Elise s1 yesterday. Azure blue, with full Lotus service history, Lotus sports pack (exhaust/filter) and momo quick release stearing wheel. In absolutely mint condition, with hardtop included too.
No cup holders, no aircon, no leccy windows, no abs, no cd changer, no sat nav....just 1796cc of pure pleasure
Drove it back from London yesterday pm, and what a great car! Handles like its on rails and feels as quick as my STI (but this might be because I'm sitting lower). Can't wait for the summer and some track days. Took her round the block with the top down and bloody hell its cold even with the heater on full pelt!
Still grinning now, just put her away in the garage and treated her to a clean and coat of Zymol wax.
About as raw a sports car as I think you can legally drive on the roads!
Also, agree with Scoobynutta - drove it 160miles today from Surrey to Notts and averaged 40mpg - how good is that!
Any other S1 /S2 midlands owners fancy a meet?
Neil

With the roof off the heater on the S1 does very little, try taking the rear window out instead, the heat from the engine then gets sucked back in around your neck, much warmer.

Nice one Neil, where are those pics though! The exhaust and filter upgrade produces a lovely sound. Opened it up from the m6 toll booths on the drive home and it sounded like a plane taking off!
Where in the Mids are you?

Best thing so far is the instant steering response and almost zero bodyroll, very easy to correct mistakes. Worst things gotta be getting in.

Nice car - still getting tempted by one of these (especially if I have to swap the RX8 for a sensible company car). One thing I would recommend is the fitting of a Larini exhaust system, which has to the best I've heard on an Elise

Big Lotus show at Donnington this weekend (Sat & Sun). Get yourself along there.

Have fun with it, as you say, no body roll, easy to correct mistakes (you can hold them broadside with your little finger!) great MPG, I dearly miss mine, and will maybe one day own another. Just be careful in the damp until you are used to her!
