Carrying on from last post..

Cant really afford a cossie at the moment, especially with a sti in the drive.

Want a turbo'd car for around £3k mark, insurence not to high (aka not group 20)

You could definitely get a last of the line Citroen BX17 TZD for about 800 notes

Very cheap insurance

Limiting yourself to just a "3k with a turbo" is reducing your options, there are so many decent fun cars for 3k without one, with cheapish insurance. If it must be a Turbo, then your probably looking at immaculate versions of early hot hatches, problem is finding a decent one!....

R5 Turbo
Fiesta RS Turbo
Escort RS Turbos S1 or S2
Charade GTti

I would go for a 200SX S13, they are cheap, great rwd, tunable and if you can find a decent one, reliable for its age. Might even get a high mileage S14.

Also Rover 200 Tomcat turbo. But you really need to be careful as a lot could be dogs, and they handle poor too.

Depends what your looking for, and why it has to be a turbo (is it becuase you can turn up the boost easily?)

There's also the option of cars that have already had turbo conversions, dare I say it Nova's with Turbo 2.0, or 200Vi/GTi with Tomcat turbo engine. But there's the question of insurance, handling etc.

Cars like GT4's, Fiat Coupe Turbos, Pulsars, early MR2 T's etc could be advertised close to 3k, but they will def be dogs for that price, have insurance way above what you stated, and still cost a loads to run, so all are no go's.

Why not try finding a 1990 onwards Mazda 323 Turbo import. If you can find one.

Volvo T5. They are strong, reliable and extreamly tuneable. £2500 would buy you this example, £500 would get you a nice filter / remap combo which will result in 300hp. They are not that shy at that point - lol.......... [insurance group 16 BTW]
