Default The time has come/Lloyds TSB fleet

The scoob has to go. After a brief 2 months of ownership, the missus has now put her foot down and I have to divert all funds to my forthcoming nuptuals. The main problem is not the cost of the car, but the fuel which is running at £400/month at the moment because of mileage. Missus has the idea that saving £2400 over the next 12 months cant be ignored and I had to grudgingly agree.

So I've just asked the company for some quotes on a couple of different cars.

Audi A3 2.0TDI S/Line
Mercedes 200 CDI SE

They weigh in at around the £20-22k mark, and until I have the quotes back, expect that they will cost me about £550-£600/month. Any thoughts, I'm looking for economy, decent looks and a reasonable price.

My company use Lloyds TSB fleet purchasing and Audi/BMW and Merc offer few discounts, whilst Vauxhall will virtually give you a vectra.

Does anyone know which manufacturers other than Vauxhall gives good discount on fleet purchases.

Christ, for £600 a month I'd want 4 bedrooms (master with en-suite)

To the OP, if you're after saving money, are you sure you want a brand new car?

Found 6 points waiting for me at home last night - so no option now but to get rid, and only realistic chance of reasonable insurance now is company car.

Re: cost, the A3 is £530/month, however when I weigh that up against my car allowance of £480/month which I currently take as cash and get taxed on, it would save me around £100 month without taking into account the double MPG which would save me £100/month as well.
Lotus Elise comes out favourably as well but I dont know that I could live with one for 2 years as my main car.

Plus I should be able to get about 6 or 7k back on selling the scoob, even after taking a few K hit on the savage depreciation.

Not sure that is insurance or licence friendly. 6 further points could quickly be accumulated.

Oil burning Audi sounds a better bet
