It's hard to give tips really!

You'll either pick it up quickly and pass after a few lessons or be a menace for ages and need about 15 tests like my sister is finding out!

Patience is the only tip I can give

My first advice to any new driver - stay well back from the cars in front.

Otherwise, assuming your instructor is good, listen and obey. You're there to pass an exam, not to fuel your own ego. Too many people say "my instructor's crap, he wants me to drive like a granny." The time to overrule your instructor is the day after you pass your test. Not before.

Have fun

Yes i made it alright.lol. Had a brilliant lesson, instructor was very calm and patient. Didnt stall the car once, and was actually quite smooth in moving off, and especially gear changes. Got to do a few hill starts aswell, and was even allowed to do a right turn at a junction!

Booked two for next week so hopefully will pass within a few months.

Also, be interesting to know how many lessons you guys had before you had you test?Think my dad must hold the record with 9!!

Cheers

I agree totally.
The only reason you have driving lessions is tolearn to past your test. After you pass your test you learn to drive.

Didn't have any. Learnt to drive by joyriding motors round southampton and stealing farm equipment to drive across fields. Passed my test by claiming to be muslim woman and having to wear the ninja headgear for the test then getting the world muslim rally (female) champion to stand in for me.

Piece of p!ss.

Theory? Eh? Youngsters...

Not sure how may I had. I did a few at the start, booked my test (long wait in london then), then practised for a couple of months until the date approached when I had a few more lessons... probably about a dozen in all I reckon. Passed first time though.

My instructor was brill - walking mogadon man, very hard to get overexcited with him there!

I did it in 10.

First 3 to get the basics, then a break to save up for the next lot while I practised in my mum's Fiesta, then 7 to learn how to pass the test

did it in 4 lessons. After 4 lessons i just got lots of practice driving the old fellers car to and from college. Passed in 6 weeks. the secret is just to drive like an adult rather than a **** as most of driving is ccommon sense and courtesy to other road users.

good luck

I did it in 12, didn't have any other practice. 12 hours of experience and I was free to roam the streets.

Just think of that extra expense you're going to be facing!! Horrible.

Massive insurance costs on a crappy 1 litre motor!! Not to mention the frustration of wanting a faster car but not being able to get/afford the insurance.

I remember my first lesson.

January, pitch black, fog and windy back roads. Zero visibilty. Im going along at about 30, the instructor goes 'You know the limit here is 50, why are you doing 27mph? Me: 'Because im ******* scared you sadist!'

Ah, memories...

Good luck.
