106 tuning/bhp ??
There is a 106 that lives near me, with a roll cage and a bloody big exhaust - look very similar to my Ninja.
Anyway, this morning (p****ng down with rain btw) we had a 'play' on a couple of stretches of dual carriageway with one roundabout inbetween. On the straights he couldn't pull away but was quick, and bloody hell was his exhaust loud - I have full de-cat and the stereo on, and could hear his popping and banging etc.!
Got held up on the roundabout (shame as in this weather he would have had no chance), then I went past him on the second stretch put only pulled a couple of lengths. Come the lights he didn't bother as he obviously realised his lack of traction gave him no chance.
Q: What sort of bhp, or bhp/ton could these 106s be modded to achieve? I don't know what model as de-badged - I assume its a GTI?
Oh, I have a MY95 with about 270-280 bhp - 220ish bhp/ton.
Cheers.

106 gti is 120/130bhp std, whack a supercharger on and you have 180bhp.

Surprised as there wasn't much in it from the roundabout in a straight line up to 70ish.

These can be turbo'd or s/c to over 200bhp. You'll appreciate that with say 210bhp and 930kg standard less any reductions its p/w/r will happily match your scooby! I doubt it was s/c as he'd have not put the power down in any gear in the wet!!!

The rest of the car looked very clean and I was tempted at a purchase, but the drivers side rear sill has the paint flaking off about 6 inch with pure rust underneath. Would need some welding doing I would think.
Whats the spec on the engine?
What you wanna know!?

Even standard they are quick! It takes me until well into 3rd gear to pass my flatemates VTS when I start behind him. You simple won't eat one from 10-60mph unless you have a considerably more accelerative car.

i had a Pug 106 gti until last year, full stainless magnex and viper induction kit. had many a race with my mates my97 wagon and he struggled at times to get past unless in a straight line. great little cars and real sleepers

I had a 106 gti with full magnex exhaust, rapid little cars, much quicker than the quoted 0-60 times from peugeot especially the later ones.
When I picked up my standard subaru my00, there wasn't much in it when rolling up to about 70mph.

Modded classic with 280bhp, same figures approx. as a P1, hence 4.8ish to 60; versus 106 GTI about 7.something.
You would think that would be no contest, bye bye imputent little scally - but no, took me until about 80 when rolling off a roundabout to pass him!

yesterday me and a work collegue had a bit of a ding dong down a private by-pass him Primera 2.0 se (128bhp) me A6 2.8 (194bhp) i passed him but i swear by the end of the by-pass he was something like only 5 car lengths behind me.
i was genuinely inpressed!
incidentally i can give my mates (standard) scoob a run for its money...well at least on the straights anyway

Had a 106 GTi a few years ago, and I have to admit they are little pocket rockets, I sold it to my mate and recently I had a Audi TT 225 and thought Id give him a race from about 30mph on the dual carrigeway he started to pull away from me but when we both got over 100mph I started to pull it back and slowly took over him, Both cars were standard.
But I did used to enjoy my little races in my old 106 Gti and I would love to upset a few cars including a Porsche Boxster 2.5 when I stuck with him on the dual carrigeway, he did start it by slowing down then he tried to floor it as we entered the slip road to the carrigeway and i stayed with him all the way
