The 330d is much better because it has a degree of smoothness 6 cyl and a good engine noise.Tuneable aswell!

i had one for a couple of months, 02 150Bhp facelift model. i thought it was very good at what it did, 35-39 MPG around the doors, 45-50 on a run to London. enough oomph to get the back end out if the mood took me and compared to previous cars was leagues ahead in build quality and keeping the missus quiet.
only thing that brought it down for me was the suspension, not sporty but not comfy either (i had the sports suspension pack).

We've got a 52 plater with 80k miles under the wheels since we got it new. Mostly put there by my wife, it's her car. It's an auto but still gives 45-50 mpg. I think it's an amazing car for the money, just about fast enough, cheap to maintain and it still feels like new. The only downside is noise at idle. I'm starting to think about replacing it as it's almost paid for and we might just make life easy and get a new shape one.

I recently drove a 54 plate 320d SE that belongs to my Mums other half. It wasn't a bad car, arguably riding better than my Sport suspended 330d. However, I was amazed how relatively noisy it seemed and also at the lack of grunt compared to the 330. It was only returning a couple of mpg more than the 330 too.
Nice cars, but the new E90 is better.

Got a 320cd sport with 50k miles - just over a year old.
I like the car for its long distance ability and good build quality. Economy is excellent (45mpg showing on computer over the 50k miles and I have the cruise set at 95mph).
One major downside is that the car is not set up very well for UK roads. Very hard ride with soft dampers gives a bouncy set up on all but the smoothest roads.
Spectacularly poor in the snow....
Would I have another? Yes - but with standard suspension and 17 rather than 18 inch wheels.

I have a 2003 320D SE with 54k on the clock.
Love the car for the power (150 BHP) from a 2 litre diesel is very good.
Motorway cruising is very quiet indeed and returns amazing economy.
Plus, it's got that little bit of fun factor - traction control off and rear-wheel drive.
The only downside to it is that it has the better bigger brother in the form of the 330d!
I have the standard SE suspension - the sport suspension is very much firmer.
