E55 AMG??
Have had a bee in my bonnet for a while about changing from MY04STI PPP to something BMW M. However on paper an E55 AMG looks very interesting in an M5-humbling kinda way. Anyone got any thoughts/comments/got one?? My only problem is getting away from this notion that Mercs are for oul fellas but seen an E55 AMG last week and it look sharp!!

Sir I can do no better than point you in the direction of 'The Knowledge' in the rear pages of Evo. The W129 generation gets 'Dragster disguised as a Limo' and 4/5 stars, the current itteration gets 'M5 humbling grunt' and 4.5/5 stars
I personally intend one of these to be my everyday smoker, when the numbers come up

On Gran turismo 4 i find the E55 a lot easier to control around the Nurburgring than the new M5. But the E55 whines, whereas the M5 new sounds like an f1 car, and the old sounds like a spitfire ?!?!
Nice to have the choice between the 2 though.....
Hope that helps

I have been looking and thinking about these for about a year now.
Everywhere there is a write-up in them they come out smelling of roses. You can pick up a good one for about 20K.
I will probably still be thinking about them next year as I have just bought a modded Evo 6 , not quite the same thing, guess the merc is still just a little old man for me
