What are the advantages/disadvantages of both. I know injection is more efficient and more economical but what else. Any info would be great. cheers.

Injection is also more reliable. My friend has a 16 valve golf mark 2 that has 45s on it and it goes out of tune His injection before was fine but on carbs it produces good power and sounds better

Or Throttle bodies which give the benefits of carbs with the reliability of injection !

As Blackscooby sez, carbs best when there's a carb throat per cylinder, for flow reasons. With throttle bodies (like BM M3s etc) you get the best bits of both.

Throttle bodies are the way forward. However, the downside is they cost a lot more than the other 2 options

My experience of a twin carb ford 1700 xflow, was that it did need tinkering with all the time to keep it on top form.

I vote carbs. Despite them causing grief from time to time (see my carb trouble thread!) at least you can sort it easily when it comes up without having to trust a moody fuel injection computer.

Just looking at going the Throttle body route at the moment on my Pug 205 hillclimb / sprint motor. Half the battle is done in that I'm running a full mappable ECU so I've just got to get the bodies, fuel rail, manifold, linkages and god knows what else and then have it all fitted & mapped up.

Looking at around £1500 all in (which doesn't include the ECU!)

Ours has been done over the last year or so. Everything was rebuilt at the end of last season with lightened and balanced crank, fly, pistons etc. Ported head etc. The ECU was fitted last year along with the associated wiring loom so the TBs isn't the big bill bit.....

Also having this conundrum at the mo - trying to get my Mi engine sorted at the mo, then its time to add carbs or throttle bodies. Will probably go the carb route.

Not due to money, just due to the fact I would rather spend £1500 on other things than TB's.

Problem now is trying to find some second-hand 45's

Mate of mine has some in his garage, but he is putting them onto his VW camper van

Already running a 310 duration cam which is a wild b@st@rd to say the least !

Hopefully the TBs should be able to make the most of it !
