Thumbs up

I had an '88 model for a year or so.
Great engine, only 130BHP though but quick, same lump as MR2 mk1 wiil go for 200K without work if looked after
great handling, brakes.
Interior good and built to last.

Engine needs regular oil changes and check the sticker on the cam cover to see when the cam belt last changed, this is vital, changes expensive.
Genuine Toyota parts are a bit pricy but last a long time.

They rot!, check arches, bottoms of doors around h/back tailgate.

Much underrated car but great drive.

To add to Pauls comments, try Fensport for parts/tuning goodies

I use them for the AE86.

Brings back memories, mine was an '89 plate and I bought it with 75k on it. Cracking wee motor. Bags of poke but I was always a bit wary of the over light steering. Great fun. If you feel the price is right go for it.

I had one and it was a great little car. 72k and it never dropped or used a drop of oil.
Had a bit of trouble with rot on the wings, rear tailgate and sunroof, which was a bit of a pain.
Also make sure the rear calipiers on the handbrake are OK. They are very expensive and seem to be a common fault.
