Skylines

Right this is the score...
Got an Evo at the moment, mid build to become a bit of a beasty, but I keep looking at the damned Skylines as well.
Im in a position at the moment where I can finsh the Evo off to the standards I want it to be, and get the Skyline as well.
Reason im not posting on the GTR forum is all the bu11**** on there, slagging off etc, and I dont want to get involved.
Someone is selling a seriously highly tuned R33 GTR (one of the owners of the Project X car before Abbey bought it off them) which I can afford but I have some questions...
Insurance, Ok this car is about as 'non standard' as it gets, engine internals rated bu Abbey et al to 1000bhp, the car has made circa 650bhp @ the hubs already & its only just been run in. The spec list is obscene & is all UK built. Who's best for a car like this - I mean its SO specialist its a joke in that respect & it would only be viable if I could get insurance at a semi sensible cost.
Running costs? Ok I have the Evo, and a company car for day to day use, but what are these things like to use? I expect an oil change probably every couple of thousand miles etc, but if this thing is gonna break or blow up every time I drive it, its a bit of a no-brainer to me
Anyone on here had experience of silly skylines?
Post away with info or idea please
Chris

I am RS Grant on there as well....... I tend to stay well clear of the general area and hideout in the Scotland Section!!
I only joined to have a bit of banter in one of the threads, and now have just kind of stayed!!
Cheers,
Grant

I'm not sure what bull**** you are going to get for posting on gtr.co.uk, but please, have a little respect for the people that run these sites. I post on there and haven't received any 'bull****' or 'slagging off'.
Anyway, good luck if you decide on a skyline.

C, your better off sending cowie on the mlr a pm mate, he has experience of this and seems a decent bloke.
as far as abbey is concerned, i think theyre superb, used them for my old r33 towards the end of my time owning her, and wished i'd used them right from the start, wouldve saved me a fortune and a lot of frustration. all tuners on the gtr bbs get a slagging it seems these days (just as evo tuners do on the mlr, but not as much), but i'd trust abbey quite happily. im in no way connected with them or even have a skyline anymore, just think they had the right approach and were good at what they did. no doubt others would disagree, but thats my opinion.
alternatively......
why not speak to rc about their evo demo car soon to be done, and get yerself one built who needs a skyline?

Just Do It!
Abbey are good but quite costly... My car is about to be back from Rod Bell running circa 550bhp which I hope will do (or I'll have to sell up and buy one like Henry's)
Also think you'd need to change the Turbo on Henry's car - its a shame he went for T78 with all the other bits on there really - surely something like a pair of 28/35's would have been more fitting!

I despair sometimes, really. To a stranger, someone would think it was some kind of warzone there.
I keep saying it, a forum is only as constructive as what you put into it. And take a hint from the forum owner, if you want to avoid crap topics, don't look at any topic that has a contribution by a trader. They somehow love fighting amongst themselves.
Henry's car is incredible. An important factor here is his experience in tuning Skylines, he's done it so many times now, he tells the tuners what to do.
I wouldn't hesitate in buying a car off Henry and that particular one is a bit special
