I seem to remember that my father-in-law has a haynes manual for one somewhere. I'll try to look it out.

Not sure on the figures but as long as you go in a cross ways manner and nip them up before flogging / torquing it will be fine.

10-6-2-3-7 (Rear Bolts)

.9-5-1-4-8 (Front Bolts)

I remember this by starting with the centre front bolt then moving back to the centre rear bolt and then clockwise out and around for the rest.

If its the Perkins Prima Diesel used 1986-1993 with the longitudinal ribbed camshaft cover similar to the O series petrol 2 litres, then the above sequence will apply. IIRC, which in effect is identical to the sequence for the O series petrol n/a and turbo engines.

Alloy Camshaft cover bolts sequence:

10-4-1-7-9 (R)

8-6-2-3-5-11 (F)

HTH

Torque setting sequence:

Stage 1: 50 Nm 37lb/ft

Stage 2: 100 Nm 74 lb/ft

Stage three: Tighten another 90 degrees

Above from Haynes Manual 1857

Yes, the first (10 Bolts) is for the cylinder head, the other sequence is for the alloy camshaft carrier which is part of the cylinder head. You should not have to disturb the camshaft if only the head gasket needs attention.

Oh yes, Camshaft sprocket bolt torque value:

66 Nm 48 lb/ft

The cylinder head bolts on the diesels need more torque than even the petrol turbos .... because of the much higher compression ratios. Diesel = Compression/Ignition engine.

p.s. i assume the head bolts are the reusable type? as they arent listed in the parts catalogue.
